• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together.   • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Fatherly grace


i would not have thought of fatherly grace as
hurt and humble feelings…
what i thought to be lack of perfection,
was all of my provision…
instead of healling from my illnesses,
God shapes my spirit for eternity…
He gave the greatest healling,
when He died in place of me…
i would have once had contempt at words
saying that every experience has a purpose…
now i know that wrongs and illnesses
draw us in knowledge to His strong arms…
through depression i learned the heart of decay,
but with His wisdom i learned to empty my soul…
He took me apart from where my burdens were kept,
and has placed a new life and thinking within me.
His grace was my healling and answered prayer,
for i asked of Him… "bring me to You!"
He answered and said,
'bring all who will listen with you!'
He took little me… and blessed me to be full of Him!

Life is a series of problem-solving opportunities. the problems we face will either defeat us or develop us, depending on how we respond. in Jesus Christ learn to recognize how God wants to use problems for our own good.

First, God uses problems to DIRECT us. Sometimes He must light a fire under us to get us moving. Proverbs 20:30 says, "Sometimes it takes a painful situation to make us change our ways." God wants to get our attention to point us in a new direction and motivates us to change.

Second, God uses problems to INSPECT us. People are like a tea bag; if you want to know what's inside them, just drop them in hot water. James 1:2-3 states, "When you have many kinds of troubles, you should be full of joy, because you know that these troubles test your faith, and this will give you patience."

Third, God uses problems to CORRECT us. Some lessons we learn only through pain and failure. It's like telling a child not to touch a hot stove. We learn by being burned. Other times, we learn the value of something - health, money, a relationship - by losing it. In Psalm 119:71,72 we read, "It was the best thing that could have happened to me, for it taught me to pay attention to Your laws."

Fourth, God uses problems to PROTECT us. A problem may actually be a blessing in disguise if it prevents us from being harmed by something more serious. A friend was fired for refusing to do something unethical that his boss had asked him to do. His unemployment was a problem, but it saved him from going to prison with that boss when the management's actions were discovered. Genesis 50:20 tells us of Joseph's conclusion to his brothers, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good."

Finally, God uses problems to PERFECT us. When responded to correctly, problems build character. God is far more interested in our character than our comfort. Do you realize that our relationship to God and our character are the only two things we can take into eternity? Romans 5:3-4 states, "We can rejoice when we run into problems . . . they help us to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until our hope and faith are strong and steady." God is at work in our lives - even giving us A FRESH START through problems.
