It's what the major media does.

And that's what the media SHOULD do. If an unelected government employee (special or otherwise) simply claims they self-report everything, it's not a bad idea for journalists to investigate and make sure they are actually self-reporting everything.

I'd expect no less, no matter who is in the White House.

Let's not rewrite history. The major media very much suppressed the border disaster until the Texas governor started busing migrants to sanctuary cities like New York City. Then the cat was out of the bag.

That's odd. I seem to recall Donald Trump mentioning it back when he ran for President in 2016. And the media covered it. It even covered border issues before that, like Operation Wetback, here's coverage from 2015. And coverage of Operation Blockade from 2013.

Heck, let's go back even further:

Even assuming that the people operating the media account of the DOGE agency are posting truthfully, completely and impartially (this alone is a very huge assumption), I don't trust myself, much less the average reader of the DOGE agencies X account to judge if what they are doing is in accordance with US laws.

It would also be nice if someone would check what they are planning to do before it becomes an established fact that impacts the livelyhoods of millions, both in the USA and abroad. But I guess that would slow them down too much. After all, the new administration of the USA is almost a month old and there's still some government left.

I didn't say there was "no media coverage." What is your purpose in misrepresenting my words? The major media very much suppressed coverage. They also misreported during Trump's first term, claiming the Obama cages were built by Trump. Under Biden they even went along with the fabrication border patrol was whipping migrants. Had the major media been honest they would have reported the Biden administration was lying when they said the border was safe, secure, and closed. But that would have resulted in many people leaving the Democratic Party.

I understand the point you are trying to make, and I somewhat agree with you. Some media outlets that lean liberal do tend to overlook wrongdoings by Democratic administrations. The same observation can be made about conservative media. Conservative media overlook illegitimate actions taken by a Republican administration.

The best course of action for citizens is to advocate for thorough media investigation into all actions taken by any administration, irrespective of the political party in power. The role of the fourth estate is to investigate and inform the American public about ongoing governmental activities.
