Her Son
I thought I saw their last tear fall and it started all over again.
The hurt they felt was too much for me to even think about understanding.
I watched them as they witnessed what was taking place before them.
Then I just couldnt get my attention away from her.
The look in her eyes.
The love showing through and the pain she must have been trying to hold back.
I wondered if she was thinking back.
Back on the years they had together as mother and son.
Was she thinking back on when she first heard she would be with Child?
Was she thinking back on the day when Joseph found out she was with Child?
Maybe she was remembering the first time she felt Him move in her womb.
As she was standing there watching and waiting and wondering.
Was she thinking about the day He was born?
How she felt when their eyes first met and the feeling of joy as she held her newborn Baby Boy.
The first words, the first step the first tooth.
She had always been there to pick Him up when He fell.
And now she must be filling so helpless.
She was always there to say.
Its ok Son mammas here.
And if you need to cry then cry.
Because I will always be here to comfort you.
And now that her Son is being beaten she wants so badly to pick Him up.
But all she can do is watch.
She may be thinking back to the time when he was twelve and he stayed behind in Jerusalem.
Maybe she is just remembering the love He always showed her.
Now she sees once again the love He has for her as well as all.
And even though she may not understand she knows this must take place.
And as Jesus is carrying the Cross towards Calvary she continues to watch as Jesus is beaten, cursed and spit upon.
She finds the courage to go on even though she knows the outcome.
Many are watching and many are happy.
And many have no idea what is actually about to take place.
But Mary, Jesus mother knows.
See a mother always knows.
At least that is what I have been told.
But sometimes even a mother may find it hard to understand.
And as she is watching the nails being driven into his hands and feet.
She once again cries out.
She watches as they lift her Baby Boy up and place the Cross in place.
Once again their eyes meet.
She is seeing Him re birthed in a whole new way.
And then you hear.
Mother it is ok.
Ill always be here for you.
And if you need to cry, then cry.
Because I will always be here to comfort you.
And with that yes she cries.
She wants to hold Him so much it hurts.
Yet she knows she must let go.
Her Baby Boy all grown up and now dying for everyone who lives.
Yes her Son is someone special.
But to her He was always special.
He didnt have to die for the world to be special to her.
But Jesus choose to.
Jesus gave His life for all including His own mother.
As she watched and cried.
As she remembered and wondered why.
And as Jesus announced it is finished.
And the sky began to change.
So did many hearts.
And as they took Jesus down and Mary wrapped her Baby Boy in her arms.
All was well because she is extremely proud of
Her Son.
