  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am reformed baptist and love my church and its teachings!
However, being reformed, I also enjoy many wonderful books and articles written by presbyterians and have had much confusion regarding the many various branches of such and all the 'who is what' of each branch!
Voila! I came across this chart and thought others might also benefit from knowing also!

This is a terribly depressing site. It shows how horribly schismatic some of us Reformed Christians are. We are both Reformed and Presbyterian and still we can not come together as the body of Christ.

The history is splinter, splinter, splinter, sub-splinter, sub-splinter, etc...

That was one of the most depressing sites I have ever looked at. What a witness we are to the world. What kind of do love we show to the world when we splinter and separate from one another over theological gnats. This site would be a great resource for Roman Catholic apologists. If I were an RC apologist I would ask "Why would you want to be with them? Where is their love of Christ, since they can not even get together and stay one in worship?"

It is so sad.

God help us.

Here's another little helpful chart:
http://www.history.pcusa.org/pres_hist/family_connections.html

I am currently PCA, and a founding member of this group. I am also quite familiar with others, especially in the American Southeast, including the OPC, ARP, & RPCUS, as well as history in the PCUS & RPCES - all primarily from the conservative trends in this groups. I'd be happy to help answer any questions you might have regarding them. :)
