  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi I read about this website on another website and thought I'd come for a visit.. I have a question to ask anybody who will answer that I am really bothered by.. My dog was diagnosed with diabeties a few weeks ago and her vet never said anything about her needing insulin shots.. He just put her on a special kind of dog food, gave her some treats and told me that she could only have the food that he gave her and only those, if we found any diabetic food for dogs that I wanted to get her that I should call him and get his ok first.. I have looked all over the internet, asked a few people and still haven't gotten an answer to why she doesn't need insulin shots...

Do any of you all know why.. This is really bothering me.. Is her insulin level not low enough for her to need insulin or is there a certain type of diabetes that doesn't need insulin.. I'm really confused and need an answer.. I'm kinda worried about her and wondering if he made a mistake and forgot to tell me.. But he had about 3 nurses with him when he told me so I'm sure one of them would of caught it if he missed it.. Any answers would be greatly appreciated..

All I know is... Dietary control can regulate many dogs who have Diabetes, but the amount of insulin must be established for each individual dog. Insulin requirements vary with diet and it is very important that the number of calories your dog takes in be kept constant from day to day. Your veterinarian should monitor your dog's health and you should follow your vet's instructions to a "T." I would think that your veterinarian would welcome your questions so you will understand the whys of your pet's treatments. Also, if you do not feel comfortable with or completely trust your veterinarian, please get a second opinion, and possibly think of changing vets.
