Help with Spanish Bible

Does anyone know of a Spanish study bible in the vein of the New Oxford Annotated Bible or HarperCollins Study Bible? In other words, does anyone know of a biblia de estudio that is concerned more with scholarship than anything else?

Do you what a Catholic one or a Evangelical. Evangelical Bibles are often translation of American study Bibles (the MacArthur; Scofield, NVI and others).

Catholic study Bibles in Spanish are more unique.

1. The Nueva Biblia de Jerusalem (with notes, there is a unoted readers edition, and a incomplete new book by book study edition).
2. The Nueva Biblia Latioamericana (go for the Formadores edition, masive notes).
3. La Biblia del Peregrino (Multivolume study edition is e better but is expensive, 3 large volumes).
4. La Biblia de Navarra (expensive, multivolume, sold by the Opus Dei people). Is avalible in English in Amazon.

The translation is not as important to me as is the style of the commentary. Ideally it should be nondenominational, ecumenical, and employing "higher criticism." These characteristics are what define the New Oxford Annotated study bible and HarperCollins. In other words, these are the kinds of study bibles that are defined as being the "liberal" versions.

So the above rule out Roman Catholic versions and conservative Protestant study bibles. So I'm just wondering if these kinds of liberal study bibles exist in Spanish as they do in English?

Sadly not. Spanish Language Chritianity is mostly Roman Catholic and Evangelical Protestant.

So getting maistream protestant Bibles that use higher criticism is a serious problem in Spanish.

You get either Catholic Bibles that use higher criticism but from a CC point of view or Protestant Bibles that use a fundamentalist/evangelicals point of view. Oh and Jewish Tanaks. Maybe in Argentina were German and British immigrants introduced maintream protestantism you can get something like that but not in other Spanish speaking countries were protestant communites were the product of US Bible Belt protestantism.
And is sad. I also like liberal Biblical commentaries. That make me stick with the Catholic and Jewish ones in Spanish. But if you find something let me know. I would like to get some for me too.

How do hispanohablantes then learn about higher criticism? Can they learn about it from separate books published by their own Spanish speaking scholars, or would they learn it mostly from translations of English and German works?

I has never seen a higher criticism book by a Spanish language protestant scholar.
Catholics bookstores do carry translations of protestant higher criticism authors, mostly German luterans or angloparlantes, but they often choose translate authors that are middle of the road and close to CC teachings.
And of course the CC does higher criticism on the Bible but they do it with the watchfull oveseeing of the Vatican. But people like Father Raymond Brown and the colaborators of the New Jerome Biblical Commentary (a joint Catholic, liberal protestant bible commentary) are translated. As in John Dominic Crossan. There is also the very interesting Commentario Biblico Latioamericano that does higher criticism in Spanish from Catholic liberation theology point of view but without falling in the radicalism of the Jesus Seminary. The theistic evolution notes on Genesis are way, way too cool. They provided the basis for the comentary to the Biblia Latinoamericana.

Jewish higher criticism. I love Daniel Colodenco, a liberal argentinian jewish scholar commentary on the Torah that is coming book by book.
So far only Genesis is out but I was blown away by it.
He goes line by line, using rabinnic commentary, higher criticism and even the Early Church Father and Muslim commentaries! Is the best single book I have seen on Genesis in Spanish.

Bueno las Biblias Catolicas mas modernas como la Biblia de Jerusalèm (comentada por la escuela Biblica de Jerusalem, católicos con protestantes liberales y judios colaborando) o la Biblia Lationamericana pueden ser para tì.

Muchas gracias, camarada. Y ¿qué dicen los dos, por ejemplo, de la autoría de Génesis? ¿Alguna de ellas dice que Génesis tenía autores hasta el siglo V adC, o afirman que se escribió en el siglo XIII adC ?

No me digas—nunca me hubiera imaginado que las versiones católicas podrían ser tan abiertas. Una sola pregunta más: ¿Usan las versiones que mencionaste un lenguaje arcaico o moderno?

Sobre el lenguaje.
La Felix Torres Amat usa lenguaje arcaico porque es una Biblia tradicionalista.
La Nacar Conluga usa un lenguaje arcaico y elegante pero la versiòn que tengo es la del lector y no tiene notas.
La Biblia de Jerusalem usa lenguaje moderno pero elegante y literal. Muchos piensan que es la mejor Biblia en Español. Es la que usa el Leccionario y el Vaticano en sus webs en español. Las notas son de la Escuela Biblica de Jerusalem, monjes dominicos quienes custodian los rollos del Mar Muerto en conjunto con expertos judìos y protestantes mainstream. Hay versiones Catòlica y Hebrea (solo Antiguo Testamento con canon Masorético). J.R. Tolkien participò como traductor en la versiòn en Inglès de 1966.
Biblia Latioamericana: Lenguaje moderno, para lectura facil, pero literal.
Biblia del Peregrino: Lenguaje moderno, para lectura facil, quiza demasiado facil, lo cual es criticado por irreverente.
Biblia de Navarra, no la he visto. Lenguaje moderno pero elegante y literal. Dicen que es muy buena pero solo la vende la gente del Opus Dei.

EWTN en español recomienda comprar dos, la Biblia de Jerusalem y la Lationamericana.
Yo àñadirìa la de Navarra.

Es una ediciòn de la Biblia de Jerusalem para el mercado latioamericano.

Se adaptò la ediciòn española de la Biblia de Jerusalem al español de Lationamèrica. No se si las notas cambiaron, aunque por lo general las Biblias de Jerusalem tienen notas parecidas en todos los idiomas.
No estoy familiarizado con esa versiòn. Tengo la versiòn española tradicional (de 1985). Que tiene una portada azul.
Ademàs recuerda que hay versiones del lector y de estudio con notas.

Las Biblias de Jerusalèn se llaman asì porque son traducidas y anotadas bajo la supervisiòn de la Ecole de Studies Bibliques D` Jerusalem. No hay nada turbador en eso.
