Hey, you're way too smart for this. You know way too much about ERP to attend to these threats.
So... I've got two choices here in responding to your thread. I can reassure you about this or I can show you how I would treat this nasty spike with ERP. If I reassure you then I'm going to be giving credence to this obsession by giving it attention. If I treat it with ERP your OCD won't like it but it will help you that is if you are willing to run the risk and live with the feelings of uncertainty.
I like you way too much to feed your OCD and I respect your intelligence way too much to think that you won't "get" what I'm about to do. So are you ready? Tighten your seatbelt buddy... here's how I'd treat this obession with ERP if it was mine.
Obsession:"Maybe I'm already one of the walking dead and am just waiting for my great white throne judgement!"
(Big time anxiety response... right?)
ERP "That's right..... and.. as a matter of fact I have been looking a bit pale lately and feel really spacey like maybe I'm not all here. I wonder if I'll start decaying before or after the judgement. Maybe I already stink. (Run into the bathroom and put on some more deoderant) Maybe all these people that I talk to everyday are also dead and just don't know it - like in that sixth sense movie. I suppose if I'm already dead that I should develop a cool kinda zombie walk so that at least I'll be one of cool cats in hell. (Big sigh... just here....) Oh, well I suppose that if I'm already dead there's not a whole lot I can do to change that so I might as well make the best of things. At least I can still eat... maybe I'll go buy a pack of Oreo's and eat the whole thing or go take in a good movie with another corpse friend. Hey maybe I could even have a corpse bride someday like in that Tim Burton movie... that might be cool!!"

OK... Dabro, you might be mad at me right now but I promise you that this is exactly how I treat some of my worst OCD spikes. I don't fight them, I encourage and exaggerate them. If a ghost says BOO and the BOO you yell back at it is even scarier then the original BOO then the ghost loses it's ability to freak you out.
Get it?
Get back on track OK... you know what to do.

Yeah... I know but I hope you understand what I was doing. I wasn't in any way mocking Dabro's OCD or the pain that it causes him. I was however mocking the obsession and "going with the flow" so to speak of it's absurd threats. This is called "active exposure". Instead of running and hiding you take on this type of attitude. "Really? Is the the best you can do? I can one up you. How about this?" Then you go on to exaggerate the threat to the point of absurdity.
Glad you enjoyed it though. Most people at OCD are really good at coming up with this kind of stuff. Just as their brain is able to automatically think the most horrid things it's also able to be very creative in the counter attack stratagies.

It's sad that my theme is like it is but, when I went thru my psychotic brak in 05 I thought I was dead and green and the theme stuck to that episode. Oh well as seajoy would put it.
