  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm working on this capelet and having trouble understanding the diagram. It's in UK terms and I've translated those (in red) satisfactorily, it's just the diagram that the pattern says to follow w/o further direction. The pattern says to work from top to bottom but I'm not sure where the stitches are to occur. for example, on the first row, I did one DC (in each DC of the previous row) and one CH. For the second row, I did 2 CH's, DC in the CH 1 space of the previous row, and chained three. I'm reading the rest of that row as doing 5 of the DC/CH3 then DC/CH5 then 5 DC/CH3 then CH3 (repeating the pattern around)

Does this sound like I'm doing it correctly or am I reading the diagram wrong. I'm going to write to the company to make sure, but wanted quicker results :D Thanks for the help.

Explanations to the pattern diagram
= 1 ch = 1ch
= 1 dc = 1sc
= 1 tr = 1 dc
= 1 picot (=3 ch, crochet 1 dc (1 sc) into the 1st of these 3 ch)

Are you reading the diagram from the top or the bottom? It looks like you follow the written directions for the solid part at the top then start following the diagram at the arrow. So it wiould be 5 stitches ( 1 in each stitch and chain space) followed by a chain of 9 then 9 more stitches. Part of the problem I am having is with the diagram itself -- the symbols are different than the ones I am used to.

I'm reading the diagram top to bottm. The symbols were ok for me as there's a key and I've never used a diagram with ANY symbols so that part I got, it's just a matter of top to bottom vs bottom to top and where exactly each stitch is supposed to go in the previous row.

Ok, I think I got it. In reading from the bottom of the diagram up, I'm assuming that the original line of dashes is the previous row and not CH's as originally thought.

The symbols are as follows a dash = 1 chain; the T = 1 single crochet; the vertical line = 1 double crochet; and the circle is a picot which = 3 CH, 1 sc in 3rd CH.

The original diagram was written in swedish. We'll see if this works.
