  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The spirit of addiction is a spirit that basically says this: If you will serve me by taking, using this substance then I will give you a good feeling in return for serving me ('serving it' meaning by smoking, drinking, taking, using, doing __________fill in the blank) it could be any type of addiction, like shopping, sex addiction, workaholism, etc... It is a false demon god behind the addiction. It claims to have more power than God over you because of the fact that it claims to be able to 'make' you serve it by doing the addictive activity in exchange for the feeling\relief it (the spirit of addiction) 'provides' you with.

To help you with physical side of the issue, by all means see a doctor for help on that, but as far as prayer power over any addictions, the root is to renounce the addicition as a source of joy, peace, comfort or whatever other good feeling, pleasure or thrill may have at one time come from the activity. GOD is our source. We are to be lovers of GOD not fleshly pleasures. The spirit of addicitons needs you just as much as you need it (meaning the cigarettes, various substances, etc) for relief, because, every time you engage in the activity(ies), you are feeding that spirit power and authority over you to be your source instead of GOD, and that little demon spirit wants to rub it in GOD's face that it has you serving it -even against your own will -instead of GOD. Renounce it, in Jesus' name also declare God to be your source of all you have need of. Ask God in Jesus Name to forgive you for serving the spirit of addiction, in exchange for good feelings pleasures etc. At GOD's right hand are pleasures forevermore, and HIS pleasures are non-addictive, GOD sets us free to truly enjoy life in HIM!! amen. I hope this can help you and I will pray for you also tonight.

"Ask God in Jesus Name to forgive you for serving the spirit of addiction"

said this and I felt utterly condemned! But I will say thank you for your concern!!! This is hard and it just felt harder to ask God for forgiveness over my addictions and weaknesses ontop of that - the real punch in the face - serving these addictions which placed so much condemnation on me aswell as guilt - it was really tough, I feel like I am still a baby in Christ and am still crawling, ready to jump up at any moment and walk on my own two feet - I want to be convicted and not condemned so I thank you for your love, your prayer you are going to say and your concern. Thank you for your words too which shows that you do care about my struggles!!

God bless.

No condemnation intended whatsoever. I apologize if I insulted you by anything related to 'serving addiction' part. I have struggled myself with various habits addictions, and I am learning about the spiritual roots of addictions. No, You are not knowingly or willfully worshipping\serving anything other than God in your heart, but remember sin is something that comes from your flesh, not yor heart.(Romans7) You are the righteousness of God, IN Christ. The flesh wants to do the sinning, the flesh does not automatically serve God. The flesh still wants to serve the addiction, and yes, the flesh is serving it, because sin makes you a slave, and slaves do not have a free will-they must serve their 'master'. But remember christ has set you free from your sins! I guess i should have worded my statement this way: Ask God to forgive you for yielding your flesh to addiction(s), Then BELIEVE it is forgiven and take authority and tell addiction to leave. KEEP doing that on a DAILY basis esp when you slip up, until your freedom manifests. No condemnation intended whatsoever, like I said. We are talking about prayer here, and spiritual victory and how to execise it. Jesus already set us free on the cross, but w have to use your FAITH to stand for it, and fight for it against the devil and his temptations, bc he is not gonna just let us go with out us demanding it(remember Pharoah and the children of Israel) Moses had to tell Pharoah over and over again, and God helped as Moses continually took the stand for freedom. -side note*I have a hard time on msg boards bc it is hard to really communicate thoroughly over a msg board or forum, thus I knew I was taking a risk of miscommunicating or being misunderstood. But I decided to take the risk bc my heart went out to you. I have family members who have struggled with alcohol, drugs, smoking, sex addiction... u name it, so I am not trying to make u feel guilt or condemnation, nor is God trying to put that on you, which you already know bc you know HIM. Much love to you, and I am keeping you in my heart and prayers. Thx for blessing me-Wendy

I have a smoking addiction and painkiller (Oxycontin) addiction going on in my life.

I have been trying to do this by my own strength, impossible. So I ask for deliverance from these addictions. Help me overcome these addictive habits through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Great Saviour.

God bless!

Hello,

I am praying that you overcome these addictions. Sometimes what we also have to do is seek help from people or organizations that God has put on this earth to help us. I therefore also pray that you can get help with them from the counseling or other helping organization of your choice. God bless you.

Faithfully,

CH Sacerdote

Never and listen! What I said was wrong! Because I am in confusion myself so sometimes I try to react to things and it just doesn't come out right, I am the one being healed here - it is not my place to say to the healer - you're healing me wrong! God knows your heart and mine - and I would like to say thank you for your mighty prayer! I have to get over my fears and start being a mighty man in Christ!

Bless you!!

Yes, I realise I need outside help. It is a cycle I am in, sometimes I don't even need one I feel but I take it and I say - ah man, what is GOING ON WITHIN ME? I try my hardest sometimes and I will break free, but when I fail - it hits me more for some reason.

I thank you all for your prayers and your support. Thank you, thank you, thank you - I will not doubt God's healing power!!! I am being healed!!! I can only focus on the healing to get me through this!!!

God bless!

I was addicted to oxazepam and remeron. I quitted at once and He helped me miraculously. But then there was this smoking addiction. I've stopped I really can't count how many times and asked forgiveness, threw a smoke demon out and started again, feeling condemned with every cigarette I smoked.
Now finally I stopped. He said: Why don't you let Me do it? You can't do it yourself. Then it was amazing, I felt like I was in heaven for 4 days, REAL peace, but then someone tried to take my kids from me and I started again. Now I really stopped.
I'll pray you get a revelation of His unconditional love for you, otherwise it's impossible or you do it in your own strength. And that your old nature really died with Christ.
Read Romans 7 and 8. In 7 Paul was under the law and he did what he didn't want to do, he was a slave to sin. A smoker is a slave to smoking.
Just give up and tell him you can't do it and if He wants to work the willing and working in you.
He loves you as you are, also when you're addicted, but He loves you too much to keep you the way you are.
