  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A woman whose mother died two weeks ago had to give up her best friend "her cat" in order to move in and help her very ill father.

She gave the cat to a Christian guy who promised to keep her till the day she/the cat dies.

Well, the roommate of the new owner, took the cat from his room to play with her -- mind you she was frightened and in a new home for the first time in seven years -- and did not return the cat to the new owners bedroom.

Well, now the cat is missing. The new owner fears the irresposible roommate left the door open for too long and the cat got out. This is a HOUSE CAT. OR the cat is hiding in the house.

It has been 8 days. There has been no food eaten, no litter box activity, etc. The new owner has signs up, visited the pound as they kill strays in 3 days, has searched his house, put the cat food outside, shook the box of food to entice her but cannot find the kitty anywhere.

He is SO UPSET. Please pray with us the cat comes back or OUT of hiding.

Thank you

Yes, I would be checking to see if the cat went back to her deceased owner's residence. Also, if by any chance the cat is still somewhere in the house, I would make things as quiet as possible -- no music, no television, no ticking clocks -- to try to draw her out of hiding. Put food/water in each room and eventually the cat's hunger will overtake any fear.

Just as a story: I had a repairman come in to fix something while I was at work and when I got home my cat was nowhere to be seen. I was sure the repairman had let her escape. I was searching outside and was confused because my cat always came back if she escaped. The next morning, just as I was going to start posting flyers, she came out from behind the hot water heater. She gave me a tired smile and went directly to her feedbowl. Yes, my cat had been hiding for nearly 20 hours -- and the repairman had been gone for at least 16+ hours! So ten days of hiding inside seems extreme but it depends on how freaked out the cat might be.

Oh, oh, the kitty in a new place like that when she hasn't settled in - who knows where she is hiding so afraid and insecure.

We adopted a girl kitty a year ago in January who the kitty rescue people called "Miss January" since she was found in January. She had either been abandoned or got lost in the woods of Western WA. She wandered into a garage where some kind people cared for and fed her for a month until they had to turn her over to the shelter.

They called us. We took her in on a trial basis as she was very hostile, biting, scratching, hissing. I put her in a room of her own where I spent a lot of time with her, gave her food, water, etc. until she was ready to come out into the rest of the house. We have three other cats so that would be another adjustment.

It tooks months to help her regain her sense of security and confidence. It turns out she is a very nice kitty and we love her a lot. Actually we brought all four of them to AZ. with us this year and recently built a nice screened porch. She loves it out there. She also is a house cat who must have gotten out somehow.

I hope and pray kitty found a safe home and is okay. And I do hope that whoever gets her takes good care especially at first.

birdfriend who is also a cat friend.
