  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello! I'm Matthew. I'm an Anglican from near York, England. My faith lies within the Catholic tradition of the Church of England, though I believe that the recent and less recent controversy over the ordination of women detracts from the wider mission of the church. I am an organist, and play in several CofE churches, as well as a Roman Catholic church. Hence, I witness a wide variety of liturgy in action, from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, to the Roman Rite to non-liturgical family services. I prefer the Anglo-Catholic sung Mass, with use of incense. I like the Mass to be sung, as it was intended to be. Spoken Glorias are not good!

I was baptised and confirmed in May 2008. I have always "subscribed" to the church and the Christian faith, but was not baptized as a baby. However, I'm now fully signed up!

I live near York, which is probably the most famous and beautiful medieval city in the north of England. I have a beautiful girlfriend, Fiona, who lives in Northern Scotland.

Looking forward to meeting some fellow Christians! :liturgy:
