Hello to fellow WELS, and all other Lutherans!

I just realized that I kinda jumped into posting here without introducing myself.

My name is Beckie, I'm a WELS Lutheran (have been my whole life) and I'm marrried to a pastor. We serve Mt. Olive Lutheran in Detroit, MI. I have three beautiful babies...one is 12, one is 18 months and the youngest is 5 months.

I enjoy debating Christianity, but only when I am doing it with people who aren't going to turn to insults at every opportunity. So far I have loved what I've seen here at CF, and I was thrilled to find the conservative Lutheran section.

Thanks, guys, for being here and posting...can't wait to read more and get to know each and every one of you!

I'm LCMS myself but still lean towards conservative rather than the liberal side of the LCMS. *G*

A lot of the members of LCMS churches that I know are like that, Kae.

Most of them were members of LCMS when they were still in fellowship with WELS, and they still hold to the same teachings, even though the LCMS has changed over the years.

The glorious thing is that even with our differences we're all heavenbound here...

When I was growing up, we have seven Beckys in our church.

Hence the IE on my name! Two of us even had similar middle names and the same last initial. It got really confusing.

Can I ask where you're from? I love meeting fellow WELS people.

Welcome to CF Beckie! I won't hold the WELS thing against you. Just kidding. Really, we need more conservative Lutherans around here. In fact, we could use a few more in the LCMS, where I'm at. I just wish the liberals in the LCMS would go over to the ELCA where they belong.

But that's a personal issue, sorry.

Glad to see another Pastor's Wife around here. Your posts are very interesting so far. Keep it up! See you around the forum!

i am in st louis, missouri we have 2 wels churches and a mission church in our area -- the other wels church has a preschool/day care center -- and our church has a mission spot in illinois

I grew up in the OLD ELC SYNOD .
but i was a naughty boy so my parent's decided to punish me and sent me to
a LC-MS High school
.after attending that school later in life I wanted to be like Luther was.
and enjoy being punished when naughty so now i am a member of wels,.

yea like thats really fair.two churches and another one started
and Wels makes me drive 52 miles one way to get to get to one of their church's

and through mormons and baptist mine fields to boot.

wels has a book mobile why couldn't they have a moving Church mobile

Well, I have to worry about being shot any time I go to our church, so don't worry about the mormon and baptist mines!

Seriously, at the house next to our church, a guy recently got shot and killed by the police. We wouldn't have known anything was going on if I hadn't decided I wanted to take a walk, which is kinda like playing russian roulette in Detroit!

52 miles is a long way to drive. Have you talked to your pastor about possibly daughtering a church in your area? Sometimes if a layperson does the work of research and seeing if a daughter church is feasible, the synod is more likely to help start one.

I dont even know if there's a wels even close to me. I have to drive to go to a Lutheran church, plenty of baptist and methodists around.
