Hello Everyone;
I'm new to this site and wow, talk about a lot of stuff! It's a little intimidating because there's so MUCH
I hope I can learn to navigate on the forums and post in the right places.
I'm a single mom to twin 17 year old boys who are finishing grade twelve this year. We have a black standard poodle, Rufus, whom we love. My mom and sister live in the same city as us and I have a lot of friends. I work for the federal government and am really blessed to have my job, good boss, staff, programs.
I'm a little sad these days/weeks because my husband left me last summer. This made me very sad, and despite trying to convince him we could be happy together...he left. He was an atheist and when we married, I was in a period of being away from the church. When Pope John Paul II declared October 2004 a year of the Eucharist, I was really called to come back to weekly mass. I'm so happy to be back.
I confess I have been a bigger FAN than FOLLOWER of Jesus, and wish I could give up more things for Jesus. I went to Medjugorje last October and it was so great. I could spend the rest of my life in St. Jame's Church for adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament with people from all over the world. The peace...
I'm reading The Da Vinci Hoax by Carl Olson and Sandra Miesel and it's excellent. I've also read literature that refutes New Age thought and Liberation theology. I have a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic church and refer to it now and then.
I like to have an overall vision of where things are at in the world and am so impressed with people who combine a high level of intelligence with love. Fundamentalism of any sort, including fundamentalism within the Catholic church is a danger, in my opinion, because it is more concerned with being RIGHT, versus with being LOVING.
I love confession and communion. And I love the priests who offer themselves in constant service to shepherd us. I also love our pope Benedict and smile when I think of him, because I know he was worried to fill the shoes of John Paul the Great. This makes me love Pope Benedict all the more and I am very grateful to have him as our leader. WE are so lucky.
I was amazed at the media coverage of John Paul II when he died. The whole world stopped and took notice, no matter what religion, country, etc. It was a great moment and it will not be forgotten in the psyche of all humanity.
I love all my brothers and sisters, Catholic and christian and those not yet in the fold. I am a poor sinner. Yet, in Luke 7:47 Jesus said "Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." This is a relief to me.
Thanks for reading my post and I look forward to reading lots on here.
