  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello all, I understand this is the place for wretched young Presbyterians like me. I was raised in a non-denominational background, but through the influence of several close friends (much older than me) and the White Horse Inn, I've decided to check out the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

I go to Biola University in Southern California, and I've lived in Southern California all my life. The school is decidedly mainstream evangelical, but we have a very tolerant attitude to all forms of Christianity (hence the continued presence of both me and my Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic friends).

I don't really know what else to say. I just thought I'd write a little intro post and get to know some of you.

I'm living on campus in La Mirada, California. It's on the border of Orange County and Los Angeles County. It's a nice place, one of the best parts of LA county (not saying terribly much, but meh). It's 30 minutes from the beach or from Orange. It's also only a short drive from Christ Reformed Church in Anaheim (Kim Riddlebarger of the Whitehorse Inn teaches there), so I don't know if I'll be going there or to the OPC.

Nice to meet you, my fellow Reformed Christian! Please stay around for awhile.

(Hint: Semper Reformanda is the friendliest of all the congregational forums. And don't go anywhere near General Theology...just trust me on that one.)

Wow, Biola sounds real familiar, I'm in So. Cal. If I didn't have a non denom. tag, my next choice would be Reformed, so I like to drop by and make a few posts in this wonderful area.
This area is a breath of fresh air on CF - I call it my safe haven (from the fray out there). The people are wonderful and love the Lord - I just love the reverance for Him here.
Praise God!!

It's great meeting you and I hope to see more of you

Hello Brett, I would also like to say welcome and I think that your choice in checking out the OPC is a good one. I am from the OPC and I can say that I know of many great reformed pastors that minister to the OPC churches. I can honestly say it's the only church that I have attended in my town that I know the truth of God's word is being faithfully and boldly proclaimed week by week and haven't heard a mushy, ear tickleing sermon yet! Our pastor is from the old country of Scottland and is very blessed in preaching the word and feeding the flock. I would encourage you to attend a session without hesitation. Lookin' forward to fruitfull conversations in the future. May the Lord bless your words to the lost on this site. See ya around!

Hello Brett - glad to have you here. SR is definitely the best place on CF (it's my comfort zone).

Personally, if I were you, I'd attend Christ Reformed Church. But then again, the WHI is my favorite radio show so I'm extremely biased.

Anyhow, enjoy the fellowship and the exchange of ideas. There are some pretty bright folks here at SR.

Hey how close are you to Riverside California?? Even if your not in close living proximity to Riverside I recommend visiting Reformed Baptist Church of Riverside at least once it is a great church! I have been them quite a few times. when I lived in Arizona we visited once a month. Pastor Robert Elliot is the pastor there he is very gifted, and he also has a very cool accent(He is Scottish). Like I said I at least recommend visiting! God bless, Chris
