  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Good question :)

I don't feel weird singing about the snow at Christmas, it helps take my mind away from the reality of heat waves. Hopefully it won't be too bad this summer.

The only Australian Christmas Carol I can think of is called "Six White Boomers", and it's great: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hlSsffF2xhA

Hello

My current occupation is full-time, stay-at-home mother. Working in a paid job will be a welcome break :) When my girls go to school (my youngest starts 2012), I would love to try to become a professional genealogist. I have been doing my own family research for about twelve years, and in the past few years have done family research for others. I found a friend's father for her, which was really rewarding.

Of course, I will do this part-time to start with, and have some kind of guaranteed pay job, at least until I see whether I can realistically make a career out of it or not.

How is the weather down there hot?

It's kind of humid today, but overall it has been quite a cool holiday period. We're currently in a drought, but have had quite a bit of rain lately (several floods in some areas, so from one extreme to the other!), and the rain made what I expected to be a hot Christmas rather cool. It's weird to think that there was a nearly 20 degree (celsius) difference between this Christmas, and the Christmas a few years ago when there was a heat wave and it reached about 45 degrees celsius.

My part of Australia is. I'm in the state of Queensland, originally from the Northern part, which is a lot more humid than the southern part, which is where I live now. I find it quite pleasant in this area. But it can get really hot in the summer. It doesn't get that cold in winter (compared to other places at least). It gets really cold in parts of states like Tasmania, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria, and snows in parts of these states. I've never seen snow, though.

Australia's a pretty great country, it has really diverse landscapes. I'm glad you like it :)

I don't actually like sports, probably because I'm horrible at them myself. I played netball for a bit in school, but even then I wasn't sure what I was doing half the time :)
