  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My name is Mark and I have been writing since the early to mid 1970s. I used to write funny stories in elementary school and when the teacher ask for a volunteer to read what they wrote the whole class would shout out my name to read mine. Lots of laughter was had and I think my humor came from reading tons of mad magazines lol. I also write more serious stuff and paraphrased the book of Genesis in poetic verse when I was living in a monastery. And because of my skills with words I even tried being a rapper for awhile but not using swear words and violent images. I was well known in certain areas. I know rap is not the best advertisement of what I can do but it was fun and challenging for a short while. I stopped this but evbery once in awhile someone I know asks me to freestyle in front of others so I do. I am just against the images and words used in this area of entertainment so divorced meself from it. Mainly I write poetry and short stories. Some of the poetry is religious/spiritual.

Actually, "rap" is just a rhythmic pacing of expression. Like poetry. Hopefully there's some passion for what one seeks to express. If so, it will connect.

Nice seein' ya on here

Hi brinny I posted in your thread. Will likely post again later. Please tell me about your own writing experience :)

hahaaaa not much to tell....i just sorta blab (think) out loud, but with words :D

So you freestyle at least :D

As long as you are being creative it is all good :)

My most healing moments are when I am being creative with things. Even using crayons on paper and drawing out how I am feeling helps. :)

I used to teach anger management and one lesson was just for my clients to do that. It was amazing. So much healing from that one exercise of creativity because most of my clients had a hard time putting their feelings into words but give them a crayon and some paper and help them interpret what they did...simply wow. :)

^ it kinda breaks the chains of a prison of sorts, doesn't it?

Logic does not free the mind and heart. Though I am not suggesting throw that out. I have learned that when we are stuck in internal conflict or indecision it is best to simply write, play an instrument, draw, dance or whatever. Strange as it may sound but when the mind is stuck in the mud so to speak we can find more insight in creativity than mental musings. That is something I teach all my clients and have had no complaints as of yet :D

yes, "play" as in creative expression, is sometimes smooshed into the corners of long-forgotten memories, along with bludgeoned childhoods. A graveyard, of sorts. It is a gift indeed, to venture in such places, and coaxing the captives out.

Jesus was "playful". And it's why children were "drawn" to Him, and He to the children.

Laughter softens the serious nature of our struggles for a brief moment. I think sometimes God is prepping me to be the Court Jester in Heaven. I do not mind lol. It may be one of my greatest gifts though our brother Paul (Saul) said nothing about this so not sure :/

If I could have one vision it would be of Jesus laughing at a very human and funny moment he had with His disciples. This is part and parcel of my vocation. It is one of the few things I excel at lol.

reminds me of the verse that says that God rejoices over us with singing....His joy surely has a mixture of singing, rejoicing, laughter (prompted by joy) all mixed together. David danced before the Lord with all his heart, and God called David the "apple of His eye"...

Don't expect to be the apple of His eye lol. But then again all His children are the apple of His eye. He has enough apples to bake a pie :D

David was the "apple of His eye" because David loved God and rejoiced in Him and went to Him as a child goes and talks to a loving earthly father. He's our example of how to approach our heavenly Father.

Yes David is our brother in heaven. He struggled so hard against lust and sin but this does not mean he did not treasure the Lord. I can relate to David. He had a lot of conflict which he expressed in psalms. And I truly beleive he is in heaven with God now in spite of his flaw or flaws. He is in examplar for us or a sign post to remind us of the compassion of the Father (Abba) that has been secured from us from His first born Son. I think if I met him someday he would embrace m with all my flaws simply because he was given the same grace of forgiveness of his shortcomings as I am. And then we would together rejoice in the comminion of saints and the angelic voices of heaven that truly honor the Father. Lol God said to me you are commisioned to be a saint and I said how can a fledgling like me do this lol. He simply said learn to love your enemies and that was it. Lol trust me this is enough of a challenge for me.

Yes, David was flawed BIG TIME. Yet what is most encouraging for us, is he was forgiven BIG TIME. He was dear to God's heart because he sought forgiveness. And that is why he was called "the apple of God's eye". This is an encouragement to us, because it demonstrates that we also can go to our Abba and be forgiven, amen?

One reason we were told that our only true Father is our heavenly Father is because our earthly father only created cour temporal body but God created our eternal soul. I like Him more for that lol.
