If you are serious about sticking with your faith this time, I would suggest you find a good mentor. (or 2) Someone you can call with questions, who will encourage you when you struggle and give you prayer and material support; and will keep you honest in your seeking HIM.

My wife and I are now on the downside of mentoring a woman who had taken a 20 year "vacation" from following the Lord. She is now stable enough to walk on her own but had a rough go of it for a while. I am convinced that without our support she would have drifted right back out into the world.

Thank you for you advice Dave, I have started attending the Christian union at university and going to the alpha project as well as worship on a Thursday. I am hoping that I will be able to find a mentor through attending these groups.

Welcome to CF, Olivia! We're glad you're here! (Just keep in mind that this is an open forum, and even though most of us will be more than happy to encourage you in your steps back to faith, there are some here who just want to argue. Try not to take them to heart.

Hi; good to see you on the forums; God bless His Word to you. A daily prayerful Bible reading habit is so important; John's Gospel is a wonderful book of the Bible to get to know well; chapters 3 and 14 are very searching.
