Hi everyone, like the title suggests I am a new Christian. i didn't realize that I really was t until just last week, when I talked to a few people I work with, one being Muslim and going through a fast. The other guy and myself both saw he was sweating pretty bad and offered him a glass of water, which he refused which got us talking about why. Now I have always considered myself a Christian, and if asked that's what I would have classified myself as, however I noticed as the three of us talked the other being an atheist, they had questions I couldn't awnser. Mainly because I found out at that spot I myself wasn't who I claimed to be. I own a bible that haddn't been opened in about 5 years, I stopped going to church when I was still a teen, and me coming to the realization that I couldn't help, because I myself didn't put in the effort with the relationship with God to help those that were lost. It was a perfect opportunity to share God and I couldn't. When I got home that night I decided it was time for me to put aside this selfish life I've been leading, and I asked God to forgive me for what I know was my fault with the relationship. For years I had fooled myself into thinking God and I were good, but I was wrong. I know I am forgiven and it is strange how God does work, as the next day the atheist's car broke down, and he asked me if I could drive him to work. He said he had bought a bible to read, and he and I each day since, (mind you it's only been two days now) have discussed Jesus on the way to and from work. He is asking with a heart wanting to accept something and he and I together are figuring things out. Now this I must ask you fellow Christians as well, will you forgive me for impersonating you for so many years? I now wish to serve God, though I am new in my true walk I am excited to see what God has truly planned for me, that I was to stupid myself to trust many years earlier. Thank you for reading this, have a great night everyone.

Hello and welcome
That is super! God is so good and loving to us. He never let your hand go. You have followed your heart as God has spoken to you and done as you were lead to do. "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." Jas 5:16

That is a nice story. I have been born again 3 years now myself so I consider myself a new Christian too, though I was raised going to church. I haven't had many opportunities to help others in Christ, but I am more tuned in to other humans, and I love my neighbor more than I used to. That is awesome you and this guy are talking about Jesus together.

Doesn't your soul just come alive when you study His word?!

When I first came back to God (4-5 years ago), I had been living as an atheist. It was quite interesting opening my aged Bible and not knowing anything about it! The church I was raised in was Episcopalian and we use a prayer book, not a Bible. I didn't even know the OT had been written in Hebrew and the NT in Greek. I was a mess. Those first couple years for me were a stumbling, halting walk where I felt like a fledgling human trying to be righteous (I still had not officially become born again). It took several years to shed the old pagan lifestyle and routines as Jesus helped me to reshape my life into a Christian one I could be proud of.

Welcome!

May "the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, ... give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe" (Eph. 1).

Hi D-S-P,
I was raised Christian, and was always pretty adamant about it. I would now consider myself an atheist, just like your friend. I'm glad that you know that atheists are not heartless monsters! I am interested in what you guys came up with on your rides, since that sounds like an interesting time.
Also, as far as I can tell from my experience, trust has nothing to do with intelligence, it has to do with time, contact, and friendliness. I only trust my parents, friends, and pets because I have known them for a long time, and I know them too well to distrust them. It seems smart to start off not trusting, because you do not yet know who you are dealing with. People usually don't get married on their first meeting or after their first date, do they? The same thing applies here as well. I look forward to seeing your future posts.

Have a great day,
Unno-dey
