I really don't like when people pit evolution against creation, as if they're opposite or mutually exclusive. I am very much a creationist; I believe that God created the heavens and the earth and that all that exists owes its existance God. However, I find no problem with theories that try to explain the history of the universe and of life. If the universe is very old, so be it. If it's young, so be it.

So as a creationist who has a decent layman's grasp on what evolution, plate techtonics, etc. are (and are not), it bothers me to see posts like the OP. Not every person who believes in creation believes that the standard of christian orthodoxy is that the earth is very young. It would behoove the YEC world to get a better grasp of what "secular scientists" actually believe and what their conclusions actually are.

Psa 19:1-2 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

It seems odd that God would tell us that the heavens reveal Him and give us knowledge, but then deliberately make them so that they give us a different story than He revealed in Scripture.

It is intentionally vague, as I do not cling to either view, since I think that either side could be right (old or young). I have noticed that. What I think happens is that when a YEC sees the "creation vs theist evolution", many of them think that we don't believe that God created things. So I prefer YEC vs TE, or YEC vs OEC, or something else like that.
