  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Those who think they are "a good person" need to realize that Christ is God's standard for righteousness, and unless they measure up to Him, they will not be found acceptable. The Bible clearly teaches that there is a way by which
sinners can be robed in the righteousness of Christ. If they think they don't need Him and His righteousness, they should ask themselves, "since God is freely granting repentance, and righteousness to all His people, what will become ofthose who are without His righteousness?"

I obviously left out a lot of the conversation in my relating it here. As it was I was somewhat restrained by the fact that I was in the workplace and religious discussion is restrained, I could get in serious trouble if I went much farther - if someone construed my comments as proselytizing. I admit it was a "flip" response but used it to point out that believing God exists isn't sufficient. This person knows of my faith, of my deeply held beliefs and knows that when she has specific questions, I am more than happy to answer them in another setting.
