CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
Hedgehogs?

I've always wanted one. My friend used to have one. It was pretty cool. I dont know how you could be allergic to it though. It doesn't have that much fur.
Also its spikes dont hurt, unless you hit slap it really hard. My friends hedgehog had diabetes, or some kind of disease, because we would have to feed it special drugs every day.

Never in my life have I heard of anyone keeping a hedgehog as a pet. 6 years isn't a bad life expectancy for a small animal though...I've got a hamster and they tend to only live for a max of 2-3 years.

I've never heard of it wither. WHere do you get them? Are there breeders, or do you just go out and catch one? As for the life expectancy...hm. Six years-just long enough to get really, really attached.

Hedgies are wonderful! Most people aren't allergic to the hedgehogs themselves, it's usually the bedding that's the problem. I have to have my husband clean our pets cages since I'm so allergic. 6 years for a small animal isn't so bad.
If you're interested in exotics, you could look into Degu's. They're a ton of fun, love to climb and they usually live about 10 years, some can live to 15 with proper care. They're look like a cross between a gerbil and a chinchilla. You may also want to consider a sugar glider. They're adorable, once you see one in person you'll love them. They also live between 10 and 15 years.

I think hedgehogs are so cute! Unfortunately I've never had one or know anyone. However a friend of mine has a chinchilla and she's had hers for about 3 or 4 years now. Very low maintence. My cousin had one and it lived for about 7 years. Great animals plus really cute.
