Ah!

Here we are in our new denom forum, all by our little old selves, in the middle of the day, and at the time it used to be really busy in the old B/A forum, and it's so quiet here I can hear the crickets chirp.

I wonder how long it will be before it is determined that there aren't enough anabaptist/quakers posting here and they quietly eliminate this forum and we get shut out?

Hey, there are probably a few lurkers around like me who are not anabaptist as such but conservative in outlook & homeless for all practical purposes. Having said that I sincerely hope you don't mind me being in here & posting as well! Jehane

Come on in and tell us about yourself.

Thanks for the invite, Menno. I feel more comfortable here than in the fundamentalist forum, not that I'm against them or anything; it's just the general atmosphere. I'm from the land down under, a SAHHSM of 5 (3ds, 2 dd) but only the girls are still schooling. I fist learnt about the Amish as a child; they fascinated me & I even got a PA penfriend for a while. She sent me some great postcards. That led to learning about the splits, the mennonites & the Quakers; the puritans ended up at the bottom of my list & I never found them as interesting. My background started Anglican, became presbyterian & all my leanings are towards conservatism (Quakerism in particular as they acknowledged the Holy Spirit in a time when he was not so popular & believed each person could be led of him) because how can the world know we are different if we dress, speak, act the way the world does? We live on a tiny Is - about 17K's square- so don't have much choice in churches; we go to the community church because it has the best teaching. I love the word of God, my family & where I live but feel deprived of like minded company. Thanks again for making me feel so welcome. Jehane
