  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love meatloaf, and made up a great recipe. I just used a packet of meatloaf seasoning, but I substituted ground turkey instead of beef, cooked wild rice (from a can and drained first) instead of bread crumbs, and egg whites instead of whole eggs. I covered the top with tomato sauce. I did not cook it in a traditional meatloaf pan. Instead, I shaped in into a loaf, and placed it on a broiler pan, so it wouldn't be swimming in grease, allowing the fat to drain out. I covered it in foil for the first half of the cooking time, then took it off. It was a real hit, and I was asked to make it again. hehe.

 Kudos to you. That does sound like a really healthy meatloaf. I've tried using ground turkey in my spaghetti sauces and several other things as a substitute for ground beef, but didn't really like the taste of the ground turkey. Did the meatloaf seasoning make the ground turkey have a more beefy flavor? My husband and I both love meatloaf but gave up read meat several years ago, so this would be quite a treat for us.

I always add diced or finely chopped veggies to my meat loaf. Depending on what size you like. I like bigger dices, but the kids dont. I usually put zuchinni, onion, red, yellow, green, and red peppers, carrots, and sometimes frozen chopped and drained spinach! the kids like it.

Also you can make meatloaf "muffins" using a muffin tin. If you have a mini muffin pan that is a really easy way to make meatballs! LOL!!!

I would hide veggies in mine, too, but I would shred the veggies instead of dice them. Less noticable to the kids.^_^ They also liked it when it topped it with BBQ sauce, instead of tomato sauce.

Yes, it did. I suppose you could even add a packet of beef soup mix, instead. The flavor of the wild rice is so distinct, that it's the first taste you notice, anyway.
