How do you determine that someone is illegal?Unless hospital ERs are given the authority to kick undocumented immigrants out on the street without any care at all, then yes, the federal government is going to 'cover' these individuals, just like they do now with hospital subsidies. It may not be through the healthcare 'reform' plan, but to deny that illegals will be denied care paid for by the government just like it's been for the last 40 years is laughable. Also laughable, the notion that said illegals won't help bankrupt the system.

Exactly. Which is why cash payment is the only truly non-biased way to fund health care.
I think that an overhaul of our healthcare system is needed. Do I agree with the current bill? For the most part, yes. However, I wish that Obama would cosider tort reform and alowing people to buy thier insurance across state lines. Car and home insurance are not that expensive, why?Because they compete at a national level.
If any of you sincerely believe that national health care will not be extended to cover illegal aliens, then why are Democrats in congress frantically opposing any amendment which would explicitly forbid this?
Why not? If health care is, as many wrongfully claim, a human right, why not extend it to illegals? Are they not human? Do they not have rights? Are we just going to let them die in the streets while Bill Gates sails around on his yacht? And what of our moral imperative to help the poor? What of the Sermon on the Mount? Do illegals not count? How selfish can you liberals get?The bill itself already explicitly bans it. It states in no uncertain terms that federal dollars will not be going to illegals for the purpose of purchasing health care. Period.

I addressed that point in post number 29.
The section on page 50 of HR 3200 aligns Health Insurance Exchange policies with other laws currently in effect, such as the Public Health Service Act, State law, and ERISA. Health care cannot trump other laws already in effect.
" According to America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, Page 143, Line 3, Section 246: "No Federal Payment for Undocumented Aliens. Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."

Oh, yes. It is clearly written in the bill I read, immigrants or non-citizens here in the country in other then legal means, are not eligable.
But what the bill doesn't say is where in the process the illegals will be verified?
huh, Illegals can't get illegal Social security numbers?
They won't check to see if its legit. Provide the information they ask and they will qualify. It would be too costly to investigate each person, thus Illegals will be helped
Lets try this again. If the language in the health care reform bill is so iron-clad in locking illegal aliens out, they why is the question still being debated in the senate?
Health negotiators focus on illegal immigrants
Quote:
Health care negotiators in the Senate pressed for a way to ensure that illegal immigrants can't get access to government-funded insurance, a contentious issue now front and center after a Republican congressman's outburst during President Barack Obama's speech.
There are three versions of the bill out there, and the section you guys keep quoting which you claim forbids illegals from accessing health care period I have only found to be in one of them.
If no provisions are added to verify citizenship status, how would illegals be prevented from accessing the program, regardless of what section 1233 says?
