• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi and let say I really like the way this forum is set-up. Can't wait to get more involved in some of the conversations.

Last week a friend recommended this free eBook to me and I really like it. Have any of you seen this before? Heard of the author? Just wondering what people's opinions are of the process to healing she talks about.

Anyway, the book is on Scribd and its title is 'Inching Toward Freedom'.

Do you have another book you like? Recommendations anyone ... please???

Sorry for all the questions at once, just so glad to find this place.

I haven't heard of the above book but a book I really liked was not just about abuse but on the topic of shame and issues surrounding that like abuse etc. The book is, "Deceived By Shame Desired By God" by Cynthia Spell Humbert. I found this to be very validating and helpful in my recovery because shame was a major part of the abuses I suffered and it was and still is to some degree hindering healthy living. I'm much better now but things concerning shame creep up on me even now. My abusers constantly used shame to control and manipulate me so it takes awhile to overcome this. The book was like a friend during recovery. I'm very careful recommending books even if there is just one or two issues with an author's approach or theory but I found this author to be very sound. It's a christian book.
