• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My boyfriend have been going out for 6 years. We had a fight the other day ( I was upset with him ) and we "broke up" That night he hooked up with his x-girlfiend, nothing happened, but they have been smsing. He denied doing anything and the other day I managed to get it out of him that they "made out"

I broke up with him and feel like my heart has been ripped out. I can't get over it, am I over reacting and if not how do I stop this terrible depression?

Hey, I know this has to be hard for you.

I would suggest talking with him. You want to do it in a place that's private enough to talk, but public enough to make sure that no fight or anything happens.

Just talk it out. Tell him how you feel. Ask him for his feelings. And decide if it truly is over.

Oh, and Praying!

Break ups are always difficult, but in this case, I'm thinking it was definitely necessary. Depressions sucks, and getting over it is different for every person. I'd suggest talking and confiding in those who you know you can trust. But it seems to me like the guy you've been going out with was a bit of a jerk. Sure, you've been together for six years, and that's an extremely long time. But anyone who's willing to lie straight to your face at first before eventually confessing isn't worth your time. But don't worry, just because he wasn't the one for you doesn't mean that mr.right isn't out there. You'll find him, perhaps not soon, but you will.

Alright, hoping for the best~

I've successfully been without him for about 2 weeks now

The depression is bad during week nights but going out with friends on the weekends is helping.

Love is such a painful thing and I do wonder if I will find Mr. Right in the future because what if Mr Right is just a great idea, maybe we all end up settling for comfort  .

Sorry for being so :swoon: let me know if anyone here has found true love, and how do they know it's "true love"

I'm going to attempt to be as non-cliche as possible here. Honestly, I can't say that I've found destined-to-be, soul-mated, among-the-stars true love...yet. After all, I'm all of fifteen, and I'm fairly confident that I still have a whiles to go before this portion of my journey ends. Love's a tricky thing, but when it comes to finding the one and only one, you'll simply know. Call me a romantic sap, but I believe that when you've found the one, you'll feel overwrought with completion and this feeling that won't go away. It's not that temporary "oh I love them so much I can't stand to be apart" thing. A lot of relationships originally start out that way, but once the initial intimacy and emotional attachments pass, you're left with nothing. No, this feeling is a lot different. It's as if you connect on such a deep level that it's impossible to explain, and the only way to truly fathom it is to actually feel it. Basically, when it's the one, you'll know. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, you'll feel it, and you'll know.

There's a book a friend recommended to me that I'll now recommend to you: "When God Writes Your Love Story" by Eric and Leslie Ludy. If you have the time, check it out some time. It'll be worth the effort.

Hoping for the best~
