  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Envy

Gal 5:19-21 "... envy ... those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."

Envy is to desire what others have just because they have it. Covetousness is a form of envy, dealing with the material things one has. Envy is more general incorporating material things along with other things like reputation, happiness. For example Jesus was crucified because of envy. He had the reputation and popularity that the religious elite craved. "He knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy." Mr 15:10 and Paul writes, "Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife" Php 1:15 Such people were jealous of Paul's reputation and popularity, and some today preach Christ being motivated out of envy and strife.

Those who characteristically crave for what others have are hell bound. Yet envy is celebrated much in the world. Practically the whole advertisement industry profits on envy. Much as the world is aware of many categories of sin, such as murder and stealing, yet it has become largely desensitized to the seriousness of the evil inherent in envy. Is the thought "I want because other people have" the dominant thought in your lifestyle decisions? Paul characterizes the unregenerate in this manner, "For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another." Titus 3:3

"Laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby" 1Peter 2:1,2
