Kind of inspired by a different thread that I think is now officially dead.

I have thought about writing a book for awhile now and have just started writing the first chapter. I was hopping to start a thread where people could post maybe a chapter in there book and depending on peoples interest in the topic/story/ what have you, they could post a reply. If so many replies(say 3, nothing to in depth just hey, good stuff please post more) are given to that persons writings he could post another chapter. And so on and so forth. Allowing the best to survive! It could be something you write on the spot or something you have stashed away years ago. As for my work its just the rough draft so I don't want to post it just yet.. I think this will do good to, not only inspire my own writing, but provide some good entertainment :)

I have not written anything but am also thinking about it. No chapters but notes that I have written about my accident. I am kind of in a spot of saying "Would anyone really be interested in what I went through" kind of thing. I want to write how things change "In a Blink of an Eye" what do you think?
I'm a big reader, so I will read what you have...give some ideas or whatever. I think maybe that is where I will get hung up on ....knowing if it is really going in the right direction or not...you know what I mean? Would welcome your thoughts.

Well, I will have to try and come up with something. I have some notes on my computer but then I started journaling too and am almost done with my second journal in less than a year--so actually wouldn't that count as a book :)! I will have to think about how to put it into words (so to speak)!
So how about you? Where are the few pages that you have?

My Uncle, Wade Trimmer, just finished a great book. I didn't write it but did the cover design and layout. It is called The FIFTH GOSPEL: Studies in Isaiah 53. The book page link is: tridm.org/books/en/fifthgospel/

On that page you can click a link under excerpts and read the first 20 pages of the book. I think it is a great book and want the body to know if it. All proceeds go to the Training for Reigning Institute of Disciple-Making (TRIDM) ministry (tridm.org). So it is a great book and buying it helps finance kingdom work. Wade is presently in Argentina training pastors and lay leaders on discipleship.

In case you can't find the excerpt I am talking about, then link is:
tridm.org/books/en/fifthgospel/LargePreview.html
(must have Flash, to view it. Drag the top corners to turn pages)

This is an interesting thread I wandered into. People from time to time have suggested to me that I should write a book about my childhood and share how I was able to survive the turmoil and challenges that I faced growing up with an alcoholic father and a mother who suffered with schizophrenia. After several years, I recently decided to revisit my childhood and try to find the words to express the emotional impact of my experiences and write them down. I thought if nothing else I might benefit from the exercise and my children might be interested in my story. Well I now have written several pages and have toyed with the idea of making it into a book - but I don't know.

I thought I had written a comment to this thread and entered it earlier but don't see it so I'll try again. I'm new here but the notion of book writing interests me. People who know about my childhood have told me I should write a book about it because of the turmoil and challenges I faced with an alcoholic father and a mother who suffered with schizophrenia. It was several years before I decided to revisit my childhood and see if I could write down my experiences. I thought I might benefit from the exercise and that maybe my children would like to read it and learn something useful. It was really, really, really difficult getting started. After several days, after giving up a couple times, it happened. The words started flowing out in a way that was meaningful to me. I have written several pages and have started toying with the idea of making it into a book - but I don't know, I have to think about some more (this is the first time that I have openly talked about a book). I found that the emotional impact was so strong that from time to time I would take a respite from writing for a few months. I must say that I did discover an inspirational "thread" in writing about my experiences.

When terrorists control politicians, the world trembles!

So if your into political corruption, action adventure, and just an entertaining read, this is it.

I'm writing a book about a serial killer, told from the first person points of view of his main investigating officer, his brother and his forensic psychiatrist.

I've also done another novel thats about the a struggle between two christian conspiracies, one of which is trying to force the events in revelations to come to pass in the near future, and one of which is trying to keep the status quo, the general idea being neither comes across as particularly good as their both going against God's will. Think The Omen meets Angels and Demons and is written by Rod Zombie, and thats the sort of thing you get.

I had some interest in the second one from a publishing house, but because of the Dan Brown and the jump on the conspiracy/mystery bandwagon, I didn't get anywhere with it.

Hi everyone! I'm a writer as well. I've done some articles for magazines, but what I enjoy writing is Christian fiction, and I'm currently working on my second novel. I think that it's very important to have specific writing goals (I believe in the saying 'a goal without a plan is just a dream') and to treat it like a 'real job'. So I write for ten hours a week, no matter what, no excuses, which doesn't sound that hard, but really is. And my 'deadline' for this novel is February 12, 2010. (The start of the Vancouver Olympics, I know. My writing friend set the date - she's interviewed Olympians for her articles and liked the thought of working toward the same goal date.)

Anyway, I always love to 'talk shop' with other writers. Publishing is a tough market, especially in this economy, and I think it's important to support each other. I wish you all well in your writing endeavors! :)

This will help.

Zondervan(big publishing house) has a website if you google "authonomy"

It's their editor review community for up and coming authors.

If you go there you can check out the Christian section and read some good books for free before they get picked up for publishing.
