• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have any of the creationists here done the following?

Well, I guess that leaves me out then, doesn't it?
I don't see how. You admit complete ignorance to the theory of evolution, yet you still say it can "take a hike" because it conflicts with your interpretation of your favorite version of the Bible. I think that falls neatly into the category of speaking with authority and shunning correction, don't you?
And a few other versions as well --- right?
Some more than others. Irrelevant.
I'm an atheist, according to LIE, if I am ignorant of the basics of evolution, while at the same time trying to debunk it.
LIE, KJV, Tomato, Tomahto.
You're a fool if you try to say anything about something you don't understand. This is a basic fact of life.

I would argue and say evolution has no evidence, no data. It may prove mutation which is apparent today, but not evolution which is soooooo sloooooow that we just can't pick it up (isn't that the argument?).

Do us all a favor and take a college level course in evolution. Then come back and tell us there's no evidence.

You just wish there were no evidence. Ignoring it won't make it go away.

I have never said that at all.

In fact, I'm on record as saying just the opposite: 48.

Ok, your only version. The point is it's all your beliefs. You use your beliefs to try to debunk facts that you don't even know about. Again, that fits very well into the category of speaking with authority and shunning correction, don't you think?

We have read, read, read and come to different conclusions than you hold. Deal with it. Intelligent and educated people who are as convinced that we are right as you are convinced that we are wrong.

Really? Just who, exactly, are these "intelligent and educated people" you refer to? Just a little to vague.

And what was the last non-creo ToE book you read?

I use the Bible, which speaks out against evolution rather strongly, to debunk evolution.

Furthermore, when I have a coin with the letter "D" on it, I know it wasn't minted in San Francisco.

What evolution textbooks have you read?
See, you can't tell the dentist you've been flossing when you haven't. At least not a good dentist. In the same way, it's very easy to tell if someone hasn't read about evolution by the types of claims they make.

And there's the fatal flaw in your logic.

The Bible does not and cannot speak out against evolution. Evolution wasn't even around as a theory until 1859.

It is people (not the book itself) who speak out against it because they mistakenly believe that evolution threatens God. Exactly how does anyting physical (non-eternal) threaten an eternal, all powerful being?

Answer: It doesn't.

The Necronomicon is evil, and I've never read it.

Don't even know - (or care to know) - what it looks like.

You use your interpretation of the Bible. You don't seem to acknowledge that it can be interpreted in more than one way, and yours is just one, based on nothing but your belief.
Furthermore, the Bible doesn't say anything about evolution. You've said so many times that it's foolish to try to use the physical to debunk the physical; Well, I say it's foolish to use the spiritual to debunk the physical.

Evolution wasn't even around as a theory until 1859.
But God uses His own terminology to explain things.

Of course He's not going to use the word "evolution" --- He doesn't need to --- there are other ways to express it.

No, I poorly worded my post. I expected that it was understood that evolution takes place over centuries. I never meant that sudden changes would be made. That is ludicrous.
