Just relax, Hon. If you weren't nursing, and Tommy was still on the "ba-ba," you'd still be in the doghouse with some people. I didn't push to take my son off the bottle, even when a doctor was nagging, saying the bottle was contributing to his constant ear infections. MY reasoning was, the kid was SO SICK with the ear infections, he needed all the comfort he could get! (he had the tubes put in three times....I doubt seriously that could all be blamed on the "ba-ba.")
If Baby needs a bottle, or a pacifier, or a fuzzy blankie, so what? The first day at Kindergarten should inspire him or her to "be a big kid." At 16 and 19, my kids don't use bottles, don't drag around blankies, don't have pacifiers, are completely potty trained, AND they can tie their own shoes.
Don't sweat the small stuff. Save your efforts for the BIG things, like not putting empty milk cartons back in the fridge, or taking out the trash when the pile is higher than the kitchen table.
Peace be with you,
