I pray for this forum often, and for myself as well. All too often i feel the yoke of oppression strangle my joy. This oppression can often come from people around me, it may come in a word of judgment or perhaps a lofty self expression which seems to look down on me. I think internet is full of people who become stumbling blocks for people like myself, and even people unlike myself. They seem to do things that make me weak rather than strong. Love edifies and love does no harm to its neighbor. Anyway, i just wanted to extend words of blessing to all of us who suffer from depression and other mental infirmities. The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Individually we are weak but together we are strong in the Lord. Brotherhood and fellowship is a source of strength i think. Praying for each other and showing compassion and love from an attitude of meekness and humility is our strength. The Lord wants all his followers to be gentle, kind, lowly, meek, humble. The Lord wants us to serve each other in love. All too often i feel discouragement and bitterness try to take me down, this is when i must wait on the Lord and pray, and i must also remember that love and meekness is the path that the Lord has given to us. And although i may stumble at times it doesn't matter as long as i get back up again, because the Lord is not counting my mistakes, hes instead leading me. If someone hurts me i will go to the Lord in prayer, i will find his blessing if i walk in humility and love, these things delight him i think. I am so weak and so far from perfect, yet our Hope is in the Lord anyway, so i will praise Him although my life is such a mess. He is our Hope and this world is not our Home. Praise the Lord, He is good.

I am far from strong in the Lord, please dont take me wrong, those scriptures i posted above are what i hope in, but its not always how i feel. I feel a source of strength in humility, and im often tempted to get angry with people and to become bitter with them, however i think its good to stay away from such people and instead lower myself in quiet meditation, meditating on the Lords own humility. He was a lion who made himself a lamb, He was the king of Kings who made himself the servant of servants. When i think about this i am filled with joy, if the Lord did this for us then He must surely love us. This joy may be intermittent and may be mixed with the burdens of life, but it doesn't matter because we must walk by faith not sight. Praise the Lord, i pray that God help me meditate on His goodness, His humility, His love and meekness, always. We are soldiers in a spiritual battle and the Lord is our strength. Our weapons are meekness, love, compassion, humility, gentleness, and prayer and thanksgiving to God in Jesus name.

Love and humility seems to be the way.

Associate with the humble. Humble folks are most edifying.
