  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey there ...
was wondering if anyone out there enjoys the music of a band/musician whose persona / personality / agenda/ etc you find distasteful???? For example.... The White Stripes, for no good reason I find Jack and Meg very obnoxious media figures, also I am annoyed at the hype around them (Musical Geniuses!! Best Band Ever!!!!) however I dig their music, big time. Love their new cd. Can you get past those *annoyances* with musicians who are public figures and truly enjoy them, or is it all or nothing for you? Here's another example: I love Tool's music and Maynard's voice, but at the same time am a bit uncomfortable with their ... dark side.

I can certainly look past the big and little things of the artist and enjoy their music. I don't particulary find the hedonistic lifestyle choices of many artists, actors, actresses, etc. moral, but I do enjoy their movies, music, etc.

Coldplay...SO overhyped and full of themselves...but catchy tunes!

Full of themselves?!?!?!?

Maybe you should watch an interview or two with them before you go off saying something like that. Or, better yet, watch the Live 2003 DVD. That'll give you a clue just how down-to-earth they actually are...

i found that about Avril Lavigne. Ooh cant stand her. Bit cheesy look "yeah i wannabe a skater girl" Her first album i thought was awful, but her second one i actually really like the majority of the songs....just dont like how she (or her manager whoevers responsible) portrays herself. seems fake.

Oh, man, I can't believe I'm about to actually admit this on a public forum, but, here goes: The brand new stuff from (*gulp*) the Backstreet Boys is pretty catchy. Every time I hear that new tune, my ears perk up and I find myself listening intently to it. :o

Then, when I'm reminded that it's the BSB, nausea overcomes me...

banished!!

heh, anyway, most of the bands i listen to aren't made up of bad, ignorant, arrogant, etc. people so theres not complaining here, except with mabye Satyricon and lately, Dimmu Borgir, they're turning into that pseudo-BM, you know the stuff kids at hot topic would eat up. But thats more of a problem with progession of taste and style among the bands....still bad though.

i'll probably be condemned for this but:

Bob Dylan-nose plugged, strep throat voice, but amazing musical talent for song writing, and thought provacative music.

The Grateful Dead-Too freaking hippie/stoned out for me, but amazing musical talent.

Why do you feel you will be condemned? Good choices.

One for me is Greenday. Now I wouldn't stop listening to there music because they have liberal view points....you don't disgared everyone who has the same view point as you, but I can't stop listening to Holiday (which I do think that you shouldn't listen to a song that almost makes fun of our political leaders).
