  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just can't get in any of the sitcoms anymore. And all we see is reality shows, oh please when will this fad die!!!??? But seriously, I can't sit and watch tv anymore. I mean the OC is ok, but most of these shows are either the same or just have dumb concepts. I find myself either watching sports or TV Land...

Maybe it's just me...

No i have been sick of "reality" tv too. Ive never liked sitcoms....

But i did turn to some nick at night, And finaly got in to some csi, Though its classed as reality. At least its not survivor or others like it.

But i guess any show out there is like a sitcom or soap. What else can they make but a continuation af a persons life?? Excluding documentaries history channel, discovery...

I guess thats part of the reason why i play online games though.

But yea i made the same statement when the first reality show came on in about 2000. But rember before these it was evening game shows.

I agree. I hate reality TV with a passion. I watch TV to escape reality, so have no desire to watch people sitting around whinging, or being nasty to each other in order to win a prize.

I have seen maybe three what I would call original sitcoms in the past five years. For the most part, I prefer shows with humour that aren't actually sitcoms (like the Mulder-Scully banter in The X-Files).

In other genres too, such as crime shows and dramas, the characters and plots are either a rehash of another show, or so convoluted that I'm bored to tears (or a combination of both).

TV today is brainwashing junk. Its all made segment by segment by the advertisments in that segments commercials. Seriously if you care about your brain, turn the TV off. Watch TV for an entire day, Your brain will see over a thousand commercials! Most of which are made by psychologists.

The Corporations don't care about your individual opinions, talents, intelligence or anything but your pocket books. 50 years ago, humans didnt have this pumped into their heads. Imagine what it does to the conscious mind?

You are more then a consumer monkey. Read a book, or go online and educate yourself. Your brain loves knowledge. Its the ultimate natural high!!!

I agree, I cannot stand reality shows and there are only about 2 sitcoms that I watch. I have watched ER and 7th Heaven both since they started, but they are'nt as good as they used to be. I mostly watch the old sitcoms (Nick at Nite or TV Land) and the home improvement type shows like Clean Sweep, Trading Spaces, etc.
Same here! I watch shows my mom used to watch as a kid! Glad I am not the only one.

They're still making a few good sitcoms. I like Stacked and The War at Home. Stacked stars Pamela Anderson, and it's kind of like what Legally Blonde would have been like if it had cast Pamela in the starring role. Oh, and that "average" chick, Katrina, is cute as well. I think those two are comparable to Ginger and Mary Anne.

And Fox has another good sitcom that is in its second season: The War at Home. It's about a rather bigoted father making efforts to understand his kids. And the title is very reminiscent of my experiences with my own family. ;)

Not so much boring, but more like raunchy and/or senseless. I cannot believe, for the life of me, some of the junk that's on at 7:00 and 8:00 at night these days -- when CHILDREN are awake! I often find myself reaching for a video.

Tell me about it. It's because the ones who write the shows and fork out the bucks and control what goes on are evil. They want us to be mindless, split personality induced, consumer, drone shells of humans. Its sad, completely sad. Thanks to the Lord for the internet! lol...seriously! ..and libraries and book stores!
