  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Interesting. I'd love to hear about that.

On other random things that work in our house. I've started to quietly play classical music in the background all day. It really eases the rages from my big one and my little one.

Jessesgirl - I've been following this thread and really don't have any quality suggestions but I do have a hug for ya. Really hope you and your little man get things sorted so you can both find a way to communicate and process the big feelings.

Me too! That sounds really interesting MsDahl, I hope you'll let us know more about it.

I also want to just say to the OP that you sound like a great mom who is really concerned about her child and wants to do the best thing for him. I wouldn't think for even a second that you were a bad parent for sharing these things.

I will definitely let you know how it works out for us!

This is a description of how it helps:

Children respond quickly to The Bach Flower Essences. Parents giving The Bach Flower Essences to their children are often amazed by the positive effect the Essences have on their children; screaming children find sudden relief, shy and fearful children find courage, impatient and angry children find peace. The Bach Flower Essences are 100% safe and natural for children. Dosage for children and adults are the same.
Nothing will happen if you give your child the wrong Essence, the Bach Flower Essences are safe in all aspects.

Thanks ladies. We have been on a pretty strict schedule these last few days...and it has really improved his moods. He still hits his head on things...and it still hurts my heart, but we are taking a step at a time. I am still going to get in touch with EI to make sure it isn't anything, but we are going to wait until we get back to NC. Thanks to all of you for the prayers and the kind words, y'all are awesome!

Great news! We haven't had a headbanging fit in nearly a week. Mommy got very, very firm and calm im her reactions to his fits. Now, Justin starts to get very frustrated and leans over to beat his head, mommy does what she needs to do to stop him (rather not say because I'd probably be stoned here on the parenting boards) and Justin stops immediately, covers his mouth and shows me what he needs. We have also gotten our routine back, which has helped tremendously. We are going to get his hearing checked before we leave to be sure it isn't something related to his hearing. Thanks for all the support, ladies and the ideas! I've created a book list, too! I do so love Dr. Dobson, so I am definitely going to be checking out the book a couple of you recommended by him.
