I'm not sure if anyone has heard about this, or posted on it yet. Isn't it neat? Has anyone seen this on the news, or in person?

Man with cross on mission to cross country
PORT NECHES - With a large wooden cross slung over his right shoulder, Jeffrey and his dog pal, Lexus from Texas, move across the country garnering attention from passing motorists.

“God woke me up on Aug. 20 and told me to cross the country,” Jeffrey said from the roadside near First Baptist Church on Magnolia Avenue on Thursday.

The year-long mission to spread the word of God began at Jeffrey's home in Pilot Mountain, N.C., and will continue as he moves from through Houston to Arizona and on to California. The stops in between are unknown, he said.

Traffic flows as usual down the well traveled roadway near Jeffrey and his dog. A duffle bag and coat are strapped to a lower section of the cross and at the bottom is a wheel to help with leverage. A strap pulls a small red wagon with supplies and a backpack. Lexus rides in the wagon.

When Jeffrey received the message from God he was at a point in his life were he was waiting for death to take him; 45 pounds underweight, kidneys failing, deteriorated joints and more. He had given up all hope.

Didn't Arthur Blessitt go all around the world with a cross? It's been some time since I read his bio, but I remember him having a huge 12 ft cross that required wheels to roll the bottom as he carried it around. I seemed to remember that hundreds came to know the Lord as a result. Arthur is STILL doing it after 37 years (he started in 1969):

Well, if this Jeffery does the same thing, may God bless him.

Really? I haven't really heard about this before. What do they say the reason is? Is it personal or is it meant to be a blessing for all christians, to witness?

I see people doing marathons all the time, and bike rides to promote things like "cops for kids" to raise awareness for cancer research. Is this to 'raise awareness'?

Edit:

Hey thanks for the web link... that 'cross in space' looks really interesting!!

Well, Arthur Blessitt did it primarily to reach out to people with the Gospel. He took the saying, "Take up your cross and follow Me" quite literally. But that's his ministry and I admire him for it. it takes a lot of sacrifices to do something like that. I have a feeling his reward in heaven will be substantial.
