Yes it seems that too many people these days worry about what will corrupt kids, but I agree, Harry Potter is a lot of fun; good, wholesome fun.
As for D&D, I have never played it, and raised in a community where D&D stores, clans, etc. are generally frowned on (you can't even find a copy of the game or any of the books or minatures for it anymore in this community). But I feel RPG's in general are a lot of fun, and they are definatly one of my favorite genres. Is D&D evil, blah blah blah, poisoning our children? Again, no, its a game... one that I happen to believe inspires problem solving and develops a visual imagination (which helps when reading Tolkien). Can people take it too far, again yes... I would generally say that if it starts getting to the "dressing in character with full armament" is where a line needs to be drawn or at least intervention to make sure things don't get out of hand.
