He's also crossed the aisle politically in some ways Im not sure I approve of. But you cant have everything.
All in all, a good choice.

Who is Tim Walz, Kamala Harris' pick for vice president?

Walz has also approved of and signed into Minnesota law some stuff which is very far left progressive. Therefore, he ain't a centrist no matter what the liberals politicians and talking heads in the news media might say about him.

Oh and he disturbs Michele Bachmann apparently, further solidifying his centrist credentials.
Did you ever read about the far-left stuff Governor Walz has signed into law?

Who is Tim Walz, Kamala Harris' pick for vice president?
Who told you Walz was a "centrist" lol?

He is NOT moderate, and is considered very progressive, or even far-left

He supports:

1. Re-introducing the Equal Rights Amendment
2. Giving illegal immigrants driver's licenses, free college tuition, and state-funded healthcare (he did this in Minnesota)
3. Universal healthcare (single-payer? unclear)
4. "Gender-affirming care" for minors
5. Expanding affirmative-action
6. Increasing the payroll tax
7. Removing work requirements for welfare-recipients
8. Unrestricted abortion with federal funding

ontheissues.org describes Walz as a "Hardcore Liberal" and he was endorsed by Bernie Sanders

there is nothing even remotely moderate or centrist about any of his political positions or projects

As far as his military record goes, "retired Command Sergeants Major Thomas Behrends and Paul Herr claimed that Walz retired from his 24-year career in the National guard just a few months after learning his battalion would be deployed to Iraq."

and he got a DUI while driving 96 miles per hour through a residential zone, back when he was a teacher

He was governor when Minneapolis burned, and failed to take decisive action against rioters until people had died, police stations had burned down, and the city was in chaos.

a real winning pick here. Oh, and he is a hardcore Zionist and military interventionist too

Normal left, for the most part. With, as you mentioned, sprinkles of right. No hair on fire radical stuff there.

The argumentative right labels anything left as radical left. They cant be taken seriously.

Several of the things I listed are far-left, radical positions

others are standard liberal policy

but let's not paint Walz as some moderate or centrist, because he is not

I served with Tim Walz as a Republican in the House. He'll be a good vice president

More than ever, America needs a normal guy like Tim Walz to help lead our nation and bring us together

By Charles K. Djou Fox News

Tim and I represented different political parties – he as a Democrat, and I as a Republican – yet we found common ground and worked together on numerous issues for the betterment of our constituents and our nation. More than ever, America just needs a normal guy to help lead our nation and bring us together. I’m excited Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Tim as her running mate.

When I deployed to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Infantry Division, Tim was still serving in Congress. He visited me at my forward operating base in Kandahar. It was clear Tim was not looking to burnish his credentials on national security by obtaining pretty photographs with troops in the field. Rather, Tim had the confidence that comes from being a former Army Sergeant Major and an understanding of what it is like to lead troops in a combat environment. Tim’s visit to Afghanistan was not about him, but about making sure our soldiers had what we needed to effectively prosecute the fight our country had called us to. That’s exactly the type of leadership America needs right now.

Tim and I reconnected [after both attending the 80th anniversary of D-Day] because he and I recognize we are both Americans, happily married husbands, proud dads of great kids and Army veterans. These characteristics are far more important to us and America than any partisan political identity.

I don't think GFR is hard rock. Its just rock. AC/DC is hard rock. And, I'm not sure about the claim Walz is solid centrist; although, I'm learning more as I read about him. Maybe his view on guns is moderate? I thought Harris might have chosen someone more moderate in order to draw those on the fence (I don't know that she had other choices that fit a moderate pov). But maybe that's why she chose him, i.e., he's left of center? I am curious to hear more from both Harris and Walz. A platform will help clarify some things.

Strange seeing the Minnesota governor covered so much in the world news lately. I've always liked him. I don't agree with him on everything politically, but at least to me he seems like that rare politician that actually cares about the common American. Him being VP helps stomach a possible Kamala win a little easier.

Or like saying Kamala is the best possible person to lead this nation? This extremely liberal ticket is involved in a gaslighting campaign of epic proportions.

It's an interesting turn of events. Republicans have so exaggerated and over-demonized policies that are actually popular that it may be possible to run successfully as a left of center candidate.
