1. Not found anything hard to believe. Heard about Jonah and the whale, but never read it, seems far fetched to live inside a fish for days, but I have never considered it and questioned it yet.
2. I am not awere of asll of it yet, so I probably miss the boat on some stuff, and fail to uphold what is not known to me. So, the first commandment, sometimes I write "dear lord", and use his name in vain, old habits die hard. Then I would say lust, gluttony and sloth. It is pretty under control, but not totally, so not perfect.
3. I have not spoken to others in real life about faith yet. Apart from one person over the phone. There was no questions about it, so nothing to say. So, I would say, to tell them you are christian, but it is an open secret. My bible has been forgotten at my yardtable often this summer. And I have stopped doing stuff for others that are sins.

I think the hardest to explain to others is two things, one that JESUS and The Holy Spirit and The Heavenly Father are three separate but yet equally God. The second that Jesus is God's son and yet is still God.

The reason being, (and most of the time it's just hard to explain to Jehovah's witnesses) because people rely so much on their own understanding to try and comprehend God rather than accept there are some qualities and principles about God that we as humans cannot comprehend.

It's like trying to talk to an ant and explain to them what our lives are like and what the world at our level of functioning is like. It just wouldn't always make sense to the ant, and that's if we found a language that they could comprehend.

1. No reincarnation in mainstream christianity (even if one dies 5 minutes after they're born), even in this big, old world in this huge, billions-of-years old universe. final judgment after one life, everlasting destruction if fail.
2. Forgiveness of really evil, socio/psychopathic people.
3. I don't know if the bible is inerrant or not.

Eternal hell although I do not deny it. I do believe God will be merciful to many in ways I cannot fully comprehend (Deuteronomy 29:29, Romans 2, John 3:16-21 etc.) while I should pray others ( 1 Timothy 2:1) & work out my hope for salvation with humility ( Philippians 2:12).

We have very high standards for forgiving, loving, self-control, and relationships. It's hard to live by them consistently, which in turn makes it harder to tell others that this is also God's standard for them. I have my whole life to get better at them, but still.

Also, I find that being conformed to the image of Jesus has a way of not showing up in worship songs and preaching and personal sharing groups and on the Net. So, when I bring this up, I feel a little awkward.

Fellowship is my sticking point. I can tolerate craziness because its on a computer. But if someone said the things I read on this site in person I'd be disturbed. And I wouldn't want to grab a coffee. I'd be looking for saner company.

I don't know if this is the sort of thing you want to know, but:

1. I find it hard to accept, or at least to understand, how the Creator can make creatures that are capable of rebelling against him. "Justify"? I suppose you mean, to my own mind? Or to others? I can't think of anything that needs justified, among the things I believe —there is no self-contradiction among them, nor is there any doctrine that I believe that just doesn't fit, to me. But to explain what I believe to others well enough that they can understand what I mean, nevermind to convince them —that is hard to do.

2. "Hardest to uphold"? .... sounds like you mean, standards, like publicly saying what the Bible says about this or that —for example, homosexuality...? Taking a stand on what is unpopular or politically incorrect? I really am not sure what is the hardest. It is hard to know when to make an issue of such things and when to keep my mouth shut.

3. It isn't hard for me to say what I believe. It is hard to say it in such a way that they understand it. And it is hard for me, when I can see their eyes glazing over and I've only just gotten started!

Interesting questions!

1. One of the hardest parts of the Bible for me to deal with is the places in the Old Testament where the Israelites seem to have been commanded to invade Canaan, slaughter the inhabitants, and steal their land.

2. One of the teachings of Jesus that I find difficult to uphold fully is nonviolence. I believe that the teachings of Jesus tell us that we should not use violence against others. I do, in fact, think this is the best way to live, but there seem to be a few situations in which using violence in defense of self or others is the only way to prevent terrible harm. I would use violence in those few situations, but in doing so I would feel I was setting aside the teachings of Jesus.

3. The Trinity is one hard thing to try to communicate to others. It's one of the few points of Christian doctrine that I can't put into my own words -- I can only repeat the technical Greek-philosophical terms that were used by early Christian theologians, and that's unsatisfying.
