• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm a new Christian. I have Smoke cigarettes for 18 years And marijuana for 15.
I have been praying a lot to Jesus to give me the strength to overcome my addictions. Two days ago I attempted to quit cold turkey and I had faith that Jesus would give me the strength. Unfortunately I am disappointed that My attempt was unsuccessful Although I have been building a closer relationship with God, Now I'm kind of feeling a wall going back up between us, I'm stressed out because my attempt was unsuccessful, Out of nowhere me and my wife are having explosive fights... Just as I felt me and Jesus were building a relationship all this stuff is just happening throwing me off. I have been going to church every Sunday praying every day listening to the Christian music channel But now I find myself kind of wondering if it's working Because it seems as if things are getting worse not better... Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated thank you, God bless you.

Dear Brother in Christ,
our addiction is just symptoms of a bigger Issue. I have struggled with addiction for over 20 years and I didn't get my break through until 3 years ago and that's because I found out its a spiritual battle. have you ever fasted for freedom from this bondage? fasting has been my biggest spiritual weapon and it works. I will be praying for you!

I surely believe evil inspirations and demonic influences bring about drugs and addictions, with the evil that happens around such I cant help but to believe that. I also believe there is complete deliverance in Christ! Some people God delivers them and some people God gives the strength to keep fighting, I fight these demons on a daily basis. I pray for deliverance and until that day I have God's grace and Ephesian's armor of God, and praise God I have 3 1/2 years clean.

Andrew, God bless you!

Ty for sharing hope w us. I am ashamed becuz God delivered me instantly from drink. And i went and sinned more and worse came upon me. I didn't understand the Bible to b literal! Im a FOOL. W BIG CAPITAL LETTERS! I got caught up in AAs " a God of your understanding' like God was all good and sin tolerant. He wants you happy. Which He does, but in obedience and a relationship w Him, Who He is, not who you want Him to be. Spanky and i are so alike. Spanky, im praying for you!

I believe you will be set free! I really do! Celebrate Recovery is great. Fasting awesome! Andrew is right on, imo. You are wise to get rid of these habits quickly. :)

dear mmusa: I am praying for you right now.❤️ Please, just- Keep Trying.-Don't give up. Every day you start on a clean slate. When you pray for God to help you and then it seems like it didn't work, that doesn't mean He didn't hear you and that doesn't mean He does not want to help you- He does! Becoming free from addictions and from habitual sins, -sometimes people get delivered in an instant; sometimes it is a long process over time. -but actually, ALL Christians will Always be struggling with sin, until Jesus takes us to heaven! Some people act like substance addictions, or alcohol, etc.- are way worse than others. When in reality, every single person Fights an addiction to something! -and NO one is better than anybody else![bless and do not curse]
Take one step at a time:
Don't beat yourself up when you fail:
-and know that God is holding you the whole way and He loves you no matter what. your friend in Jesus, cmr
