I found it funny. Not offensive. Maybe you don't see it because you aren't Jewish, I don't know, but it was not made to be an offense, it is an advertising help for a book out about anti semitism and Jews in Austria written by Sam Apple who also wrote the cartoon to help advertise it. Notice the sheep in there? because the book is about a Yiddish shepherd.Who let the Jews out?
To the music of who let the DOGS out?
Tsk tsk, Lulav... I would have thought you of all people would have known how offensive this would be and so close to Seder even...
Washington Post---The liveliest, most unusual travel tale in recent memory."
What's it about? The Jerusalem Post--"A quirky and entertaining debut book that seamlessly blends travelogue with memoir and humor with sadness."
Hans Breuer, Austria's only wandering shepherd, is also a Yiddish folksinger. He walks the Alps, shepherd's stick in hand, singing lullabies to his 625 sheep. Sometimes he even gives concerts in historically anti-Semitic towns, showing slides of the flock as he belts out Yiddish ditties. Born in 1954, Breuer spent his childhood in Vienna fighting the lingering Nazism in Austrian society. His performances are an attempt to educate his fellow citizens on the people their parents and grandparents had helped to wipe out of Europe.
When New York-based writer, Sam Apple, hears about this off-the-wall eccentric, he flies overseas and signs on as a shepherd's apprentice. Demonstrating no immediate natural talent for shepherding, Apple does his best to earn the respect of Breuer's sheep, while keeping a safe distance from the fierce herding dogs.
As this strange and hilarious adventure unfolds, Apple is determined to find out why Breuer has chosen to become a folk-singing shepherd and to see if there are really as many anti-Semites in Austria as he fears. What Apple discovers turns out to be far more fascinating and moving than he had imagined.
With this odd and wonderful book, Sam Apple joins the august tradition of Tony Horwitz and Bill Bryson.
It is what it is.
I was just turning the gasping yente routine back on one who has over played that card with me.
Pardon?
John, I don't know where this is coming from, nor why you seem to be so upset, I never threatened you, and If you felt that way, I apologize as it was not my intention. But from these words and words in just about every other thread I posted in yesterday it seems you are holding something against me and won't handle it in pm as we are asked to do, so I guess it must be done here. What I wrote to you about was not about offending me, I am sorry you couldn't see that, I was just looking out for others, as I have in the past. What you did here in my thread was to detract from a cute greeting and a worthwhile read to make it a personal vendetta against me and accuse me of posting inflamatory things against my own people, that is a pretty serious accusation. And as far as calling you Christian , I didn't realize it was such an offense to you, what I was thinking when writing this was that the 'act' was un Christ-like and from that thought I went to Christian. That is what we are really, just doctrinally different from Mainstream Christianity, and as the term I was thinking of was not related to Buddah, I used the Word Christian, it certainly was not made to insult you, not in any way.Don't you think you have been unusually easily offended when it has come to the harmless posts I've posted? Or that you have sided with those who were? And haven't you before said "I don't want to have to report this.... but..." ? now in PMs these days...
When I have always deleted posts at the first sign of offense even if there was really nothing offensive I always did... meaning I gave you no reason to continue to threaten to report me...
Now I am convinced that this is how you attempt to control those who annoy you (as I guess I do no matter what I try to please). Fine. Well, two can play the thin skinned individual as I have shown with the who let the dogs out reply.
Don't like being treated that way? Just a dose of your own medicine.

I will have to state that if I have written to you about an offensive posts it wasn't 'harmless', we all can't see sometimes what our words may convey or pictures for that matter, and others do. I would think it is healthy and loving to welcome confirmation that what we do or don't do is good for the other, this I believe is loving your neighbor.
I'm sorry you think about me the way you do. You have in fact made many an embarrassing post naming me and I just let it go, I haven't done a thing, but never said you annoy me, nor have tried to control you.
I wish you to have a Have a lovely Passover.
In the beginning when I saw you here I thought we could work together on some common goals but I see that this barrier is too high to hope for that any longer.
You know ozell before I even came in here to read what john wrote ( I was waiting and bracing myself and meanwhile these very words came to mind) I was thinking of those exact verses! Thanks for posting them.
And John I accept your apology and thank you for being as Yeshua, I was just reading to someone, meek and lowly, I love seeing his spirit in others, even online!
Misunderstandings come, as it is hard to see each other here as a full person, only their words. I have been trying to warn others that my thoughts may not be posting as I want them to, as My CD is giving me trouble lately and I have been having trboule expressing myself, truly my intent is never to harm, even though it may seem so at times and like any animal that is abused once to much, may bite, I can fall into that as well.
I am glad we cleared this up, and there were no digs just stating the facts, I think sometimes people but expressions or emphasis on words that weren't meant to be there, I mean look at how translations of the bible can be so different!
Anyway I pray that you have an easy time getting rid of your chometz, I sure am having some difficulty in my house, prayers are always welcome!
thanks!![]()
