• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

 hello!

being bipolar doesn't make life unhappy ...

everybody struggles with something. so it's ok. if you are bipolar; try not to think of your family's exsperiances. you'll have your own. and perhaps your generation will be much more educated and supported.
if it is determined you are bipolar; think of all of us who are content, happy, and manage it well. :groupray:

you have someone to talk to here, and i'm sure your doc will recommend a good counselor for you to talk, ask questions and get a better understanding of your diagnosis with.

:priest: God will be there for you to lean on.

But, if you are, there is a lot of hope for living a great healthy life. Just keep GOD in it and make sure your faith doesn't go down but up and you'll be ok.

First all a  And you can't know how I wish I'd had a diagnosis and treatment at your age. I have a cousin who was diagnosed with BPI about then - she's in her late 20s now and is doing so well.

She's always worked well with her doctors to find the right meds and is so devoted to the Lord. She's taught me a lot about how much memorizing and praying scripture helps.

She did fine all through college and work (art education) on her meds. She met and married a godly guy several years ago who has really educated himself about the disorder and is such a source of stablilty and comfort for her. She's pregnant now and is pretty much doing fine (has had a few rough mood patches as expected, but has a great support system and faith that helps her through). She and her husband planned the pregnancy this past spring, and she gradually went off her meds with her docs supervision several months before she went off birth control. She's not working by choice so she has less stress during her pregnancy and plans to go back on her meds after the baby is born but isn't going back to work.

She is the most radiantly beautiful Christian woman I know, and I feel like her early diagnosis has helped her make good choices during the some important years of life that so many untreated people with bipolar disorder make disastrous ones.

I pray your story will be similar to hers! :prayer:
