  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I normaly don't enjoy animated kids movies, but there is something about Happy feet that has caught my attention.

I can't put my finger on what it is that I think I might like. The trailers to me look like its either a serious movie hidden as a childrens film, or it is a goofy movie that pretends to take on serious social issues. I guess I'll have to go see it to find out :) .

What did you think were the best qualities of the film Tom?

The movie was awesome, it was funny and addressed social issues and had an old church feel to. I am talking about the elder pengiuns who would represent pharassies in Jesus' time, am I wrong? But the movie was directed beautifully and had the best animation I have ever seen!

It's a propaganda film. The "different nature" of this penguin is to be a catcher for children not to judge harshly. The subliminal meaning, in my opinion, is that of homosexuality. Just as Sponge Bob and Tinky Winky have shown subliminal homosexual messages, this movie does as well.

Didn't like it.

My four-year-old son was scared by it, as was my preschool class which attended for a birthday party. The yelling toward the end had me surrounded by whimpering kids.

It was an OK movie on face value I suppose, but it is NOT a cute happy lil kid movie. It is not even really about a dancing baby penguin.

When I left I felt the way I would feel if I were invited to a play and instead of a show I got a presentation about time share condominiums.

WAY too much sex for a kids movie.
The movie itself opens with a song about a male penguin having "her body".
Why was such a thing necessary??
If you want to show them singing love songs, go for it, just choose something appropriate!!

Our kids have to face all types of sexuality at FAR too young an age in the world that we live without it being spoon-fed to them in a movie created for them.
the ati-God/christian message GLARINGLY stood out to me.
As Christians this should be far more important to us, and passing on a Godly heritage should be far more important to us than seeing a "cute" movie.
I also had a big problem with this.
It came across as a big "save the world, save the...fill in the blank" commercial aimed at our kids.
Propoganda.
Kind of like what they did in Germany (although in a far lesser form).
I know that sounds extream, but that's what it made me think of.
If nothing else, it was distasteful to put that in a kid's movie

Did no one notice the gratuitous sex scene? After Mumbles chases Gloria through the water, she jumps out of the water and lands on the ice. Mumbles jumps out of the water and lands on Gloria. They then go through a series of sexual positions. It is so blatant, that it is not even a matter of opinion or interpretation. My son bought this movie with his own money, and I promptly threw it in the trash and gave my son his money back. It is basically animated pornography. If you think this is hyperbole, watch that scene again.

I’ve been to other movie message boards such as Rotten Tomatoes and the Internet Movie Data Base, and everybody noticed the overt sexual images in Happy Feet. Everyone had a different opinion on it, but at least they all agreed it was there.

I’ve checked several different Christian message boards, and no one seems to have noticed it. My theory is that decent Christian people aren’t looking for something vile in a children’s movie. Except that, I consider myself a decent Christian, and I noticed it right off the bat. I guess I’m a little more jaded than most people. I firmly believe that the people who create pop culture are trying to desensitize our children to deviant sexual behavior and normalize it. My fear is that it is happening without anyone taking much notice.
