Happy Father's Day Thread!

A good friend of mine was talking about her own personal experience with Father's Day and how difficult it is because of her life experience with her biological father. Then she paused and said that she's very lucky to have such a loving and caring heavenly Father who would never seek to do her harm.

This thread is to celebrate Father's Day both for our biological fathers and of course to give thanks to our Abba.

Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.g And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. - Romans 8:14-16

Happy Father's Day! I'm so blessed to have my Heavenly Father and earthly father.

My father has been dead for 21 years and it's not like he was all that interested in being a father when he was alive, so I've never particularly cared for this holiday. But this year is different. I wished Puffca a happy father's day and am just focusing on the day being about him.

Thanks! He's one funny guy today. Right now he's surfing on his laptop, but earlier we were in church and at the farewell time, the pastor said, "thank a father today." He did a tiny fist pump and dance. (I thanked him, while silently laughing.) Even earlier today, he was outside doing something with the car and a guy asked him if he was a father. Puffca said he was and received a "happy father's day," which thrilled him and he had a big smile on his face when he told me about it.

Though it's a pretty darn cool thing, saying that you helped make a person.
It's gotta be just as cool from the dad perspective as it is from the mom side.

Awww that is so sweet!! Im so happy HE'S so happy. Im happy for you both. Im just filled with happiness about the whole thing. lol

Today was Don's first Father's Day as well, and he's been glowing all day Josh and I got him cards and a "world's greatest dad" tshirt, which he wore to church and then out to lunch. He told me had secretly always wished he could have a "dad" tshirt like that My relationship with my dad has never been very good, so I don't have much to say in that arena; I hope that Don and Josh's relationship will break that cycle, with God's help. I don't know what a "real" father is like, so this day is also hard for me; when I try to picture God as "the perfect father", I don't even know what to picture. I try, though.

I have a wonderful Earthly father and everyday I'm so so so thankful for him. He set the bar high for me. My husband reminds me of all the good things that I hold in high esteem in my own father and I can't wait to see him become a father. He will be exceptional; and that makes my heart tingly.
