Hands blessing

I'm going to be a godparent soon for one of the kids I do my 'pastoral practice' and this is a prayer I hope to be praying at her baptism. What do you think about it? This is just a translation, the original in Spanish follows bellow.


The blesser holds the hands of the blessed.
My dear God
We are joyful before You.
Filled of love for You and our brothers and sisters
Lord, in the name of Jesus
Bless these hands which know pray to You.
The blesser closes his hands leaving the blessed's hands between them,
May they always pray to You
May they be an instrument of Your peace.
May they be closed to evil.
May they reject every bribe.
They open their hands
Holy Spirit, friend so dear to us
Open these hands
May they open to do good
May they always caress those who cry
May they help the fallen
May they cook for the hungry
Never may they cease to do Your Will,
They close them again
Lord, in the name of Jesus
I bless these hands
so poor, so small
yet always able to do your love
because You will always be with us
ever and ever,

Quién va a bendecir hace la señal de la cruz sobre las palmas del bendecido
Mi querido Dios
Estamos felices ante Ti.
Llenos de amor por Ti y los hermanos.
Señor, en el nombre de Jesús.
Bendice estas manos que ahora te rezan.
El bendecido junta sus manos y las pone entre las del oficianente
Que siempre te recen.
Que sean instrumento de tu paz.
Que se cierren al mal.
Que rechacen todo soborno.
Abren las manos.
Amigo Espíritu Santo, a quien queremos mucho.
Abre estas manos.
Que se abran para hacer el bien.

To be honest it sounds kind of fluffly to me....
Is there a reason for diverging from the Rite??

And I think its beautiful and so meaningful.

I must be a sucker for "fluffy" and "flowery speech". I've been known to "bless" my grandchildren with the first four verses of Proverbs 7, and a priest I know doesn't think my practice bad at all.

I thought it was at the baptism.. as a private devotion blessing your Godbaby's hands is nice.....
