Halloween

Halloween is a can of worms for many Believers, but the truth is that it was a Northern European pagan holiday usurped by us Christians and made into three of the most holy days of the year, thus Halloween, All Hallows Day, All Souls Day--all three finally solidified in Year 844.

Halloween is often used as an excuse to party, but so is Christmas, Thanksgiving (for most North Americans), and other holy days (holidays). Halloween has also been stolen by witches and other sad souls, but this does not make it into "Devil's Night" or anything of the sort. Halloween and the two days following are a hallowed Christian time of prayer and supplication, and a time to celebrate childhood and mystery.

You mean you Americans. Halloween is not celebrated anywhere else outside of America. Children may have adopted the tradition of making costumed parties on Halloween in other countries because of the popularity of the holiday in the media, but it is generally considered an American holiday that is unknown in many Christian countries.

Halloween, All Hallows, and All Souls have been Christian holy days since Year 844--quite a while before there were any Americas.

I don't see how dressing up as ghouls and ghosts, going to haunted houses, and trick or treating is supposed to be honoring this supposed holy day.

Judgment is not the same as mockery. Jesus mocked unclean spirits all the time, and taught his disciples to do the same. Anyway, Michael is an angel. We, on the other hand, are humans who are being prepared to judge the Fallen Angels and their minions, so I do believe that to use these verses from Jude to create something written in stone for us humans to follow is to fall into the age-old trap of taking Scripture out of context to prove certain points. We must rightly divide the Word of Truth.

yes Michael was an angel and the point is even he didn't mock even the devil himself. if angel can't do these things, what makes us think we have the right?

It is a great time for a party, unfortunetly because it is associated with ghosts, witches etc there is an excessive interest in the occult.
An alternative is to throw an alternative party with a clear theme.

If you mean are Halloween and associated days as important as Christmas or Easter, then of course not. But they are important because in those three days of Halloween, All Saints, and All Souls we are encouraged to pray for others--enemies and friends; and we are also encouraged to do battle with our true enemy.

The soul declares that it was disguised because in the ascent through faith its garments, apparel, and capacities were changed from natural to divine. On account of this disguise, neither temporal nor rational things nor the Devil recognized or detained it. None of these can do harm to the one who walks in faith.

The soul’s advance, moreover, was so concealed, hidden, and withdrawn from all the wiles of the Devil that it indeed involved darkness and concealment. That is, the soul was hidden from the Devil, to whom the light of faith is worse than darkness. We can say as a result that a person who walks in faith walks concealed and hidden from the Devil.

Yes, that's been done mostly by Protestants over the past 30-35 years, alternately called Harvest Parties or Autumn Parties, etc. But I like to look at John of the Cross on this subject, albeit I am applying his words where he didn't necessarily intend them:

I'm all for Halloween I look at it as just one more thing redeemed by Jesus, He saved all us pagans and He's redeemed our holiday as well.
