Can someone please tell me exactly what the words mean in Hebrew? I know Adonai; I think et Adonai means to (?) Adonai... haleli is similar to hallelujah and hallel... so is praise or sing praise, I assume... ? And what is Nafshi? Oh my, I love to listen to Live365, both Kol Ha'Yeshuah and also Heart of Israel stations. Anyway, there is a song often played on Kol Ha'Yeshuah that was just on, and it brings me to tears and rejoicing every single time I hear it (my poor lil 5 yo son just tripped on the stairs and came running to me to tell me that he hurt his shoulder a bit... and here I was just LOL and crying and rejoicing... and feeling like a terrible eema LOL since he was trying to tell me he was banged up a bit  but I was so  in my spirit I was just hugging him and singing and crying and laughing and praising... poor boy. LOL!). Anyway, the song info is this:

King Of Kings Assembly - Haleli Nafshi [4:28] - Worship In Jerusalem

And I am pretty sure the song says "haleli nafshi et Adonai..."

Shabbat Shalom, Beloved!

you are right about haleli, it is simply the female imperatif of to praise. L'Hallel. Pi'el.

Nafshi is my soul. Nefesh is soul. the "i", and the vowel changes that it cuases make it my soul. It is a feminine word, that is why the verb attributed to it is in feminine form.

Et means the. There is something more active about it that most uses of the word the, very interesting observation, I never though of it before, I should remember it and think about it so that I can explain it to my hebrew student... (to me it comes natural, but not to others) Otherwise the is just Ha

Adonai you already know.

כל הכבוד! אני חושבת שזה מעולה לשפר את העיברית. גם אני רוצה לשפר את העיברית שלי. האמת היא שבבגרות שלי קיבלתי 65 בחיבור ו75 בלשון והייתי רוצה לשפר את הציונים. אני פשוט אוהבת את השפה ורוצה להיות מסוגלת ללמד את זה

and where it stops, no one knows... at least I don't! WAHHHHHHHH! I don't know Hebrew well enough to follow these things. PLEASE, please have pity on people like me... :D if you're going to write in Hebrew, could you (I know, I'm a pain, I'm sorry!) please take the time to write out the transliteration of the Hebrew sounds if possible and then the meaning in English? Or at least the translation. Pweeeez?

I am so very happy that I did not have to do "bagrut" ( literally "maturity" but it is a process of tests in Israeli high school in the 11th and 12th grade, kind of close to SAT/ACT but more intense) in Israel. As Youth Leader I go crazy to hear the stories from my students about their bagrut.

I agree that part of the point of my writing in hebrew is to provide hebrew students with an interesting way to practice their hebrew...

But to make it better I'm going to give a word for word translation.

Yes I was part of confrences these, really I liked them. actually the matricalation exams in Israel not a lot terrible. I am happy that I did the matriculation exam of mine in Isreal, it (is) better than france. Here they do the all the exams in four days! And in the matriculation exam in sports don't get a grade good because (of) working hard but only if (one) does some complication not logical (thing) that I woun't take the time to explain. In Israel I got 100 in sports. Tell the this to (the) youth.
