Guys/Teens and Knitting

How many guy/young men might be better to say/ knitt? How many teen knitter are on here? Any good poncho patters ya'll might want to share?
Oh and dose any one know the history of knitting?

I'm a guy, I sew and crochet, but don't knit. Don't know why I DON'T, but I guess it's because neither my mom nor my wife do, so I would have to learn myself.

i just learned how to knit. it's cool, but i'm having a hard time, i recently had to start over becuase i had so many holes. can anyone point me int he direction of a good knitting website?

There are lots of great knitting websites out there. For any help I need learning a technique or learning to fix problems, I love www.knittinghelp.com. They have videos for all of their abbreviations and techniques in formats for regular and continental knitters. Great site! For fun and funky free patterns, my favorite site is www.knitty.com. Click on patterns for the latest edition and archive for their complete selection. For great cheap yarn, I love www.knitpicks.com. You can register and keep a wishlist on the site.

To find anything you need on the internet, just google it. You'll be surprised how many helpful sites and blogs out there for us knitters. Also, feel free to pm me. I've always got a project going and love to chat with other knitters. Right now I'm finishing up Broad Street Mittens from knitty.com.

Not at all My mom loves to knit. She even spins and knits some of our sheeps wool.
She's better at spinning thin I am, my sister's better then me also.

Thanks! That's really cool that ya'll can spin. I haven't looked into it much, but I recently read an article on knitty that made it sound really fun. Do you have any knitting projects in progress right now? I've finished my Broad Street Mittens and will soon start on some fingerless gloves for my mom who works on the computer all day in a very cold office. She actually bought some hunting gloves to keep her hands warm, but her fingers free while she worked, but they aren't really working out for her. Time for me and my needles to step in!

I don't think I do anything along the lines of knitting other than spool knitting and crocheting...I also do splicing, but I don't think that really counts.
