  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

These are the guys at the shelter that have not been adopted yet, and who were not chosen to go into breed rescue. I *may* adopt one, but I'm still not positive...

They all look generally the same to me. I’d test their character and pick the best one. There are some good trials you can do a quick run through to get an idea of what they are capable of. I know one off hand is a pain tolerance test. If you have small children this is a must since they often like to grab and twist pets. You spread their paw and gradually firmly pinch the skin between the paws. If you hardly pinch them and they turn to bite I’d toss that one back. They may try to bite or simply yelp and this is something you want to know. Test their hearing, since of smell, have them run around solo with you and see if they run into things. I’m sure you can find a good list of selection tips on the net of this fashion.

I think it’s great that people like to rescue pets this way but personally I only go to breeders for pets. It’s not just the papers but having a bloodline that has proven to be relatively free of illness and imperfections. It’s heart breaking when your puppy grows up to show signs of diseases that were basically passed through the genes of its bloodline. Sure it costs money but you save from not needing a vet so often, not to mention the chance of watching your pet try to cope with some form of life long pain. I’m just speaking sensibly of course. Still nice to rescue pets if you feel this is important for you to do.
