Personality: Before he was saved: Seemed to enjoy death and killing, but in truth he did not, he was just mourning his wife's death by Kain Yamazhi, who he thought was a messenger of God. He wanted to become even more powerful than God to get his revenge but then realized that that Kain Yamizhi was not God's messenger, he was just a murderer.
After he was saved: Very open and polite, sees the world in a whole different way and prays to God every night, asking for God's forgiveness. He hopes that God will grant him a way into heaven and that in heaven he will be reunited with the woman he loved.
History: Grew up in Peria, constantly moved until his parents died when he was seven. He ended up growing up on the streets of Nuniya, Peria and eventually was found by an exceptionally good mana wielding old man when he was ten. The old man trained Grell to use all kinds of mana, Grell progressed unusually well and at the age of 18, he supassed the old man. Soon after, he met a lovelly woman by the name of Eliza Rosalia. She wasn't born into a christian family, but was becoming a christian. They loved eachother and soon became married.
Seven years later, while Eliza was pregnant with their baby, she was attacked and killed by Kain Yamazhi. Grell found her dead at their home. The only person he could turn to for guidance after that was his guardian, the old mana wielder who raised him, he went to his home and found out he died of a heart attack.
Grell was devastated, nothing mattered to him anymore, he blamed God for the death of his loved ones and planned to become even more powerful than God so that he could avenge the ones he lost.
