• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi,
Iremember when i lost my father.
I was scared to death of his dying.
I prayed and God delivered me from my fears.
I've been told the grieving process can take as long as a year.
It could be somewhere down the road, you'll start to grieve the loss,
Which by the way i send my sympathies.
I did that with my mother. I was fine when she passed, but later on
I had a real good crying spell.
It could be you're just not ready to grieve yet.

You'd think i'd be crying and sitting in a corner after cancer killed my dad a few weeks ago. Instead, I'm busier than normal. Can anybody relate?
I guess it depends on why your busier than normal. If your not dealing with your pain or ignoring it then I would say you need to slow down. But, we all grieve in different ways and no way is more normal than others.

People deal with grief in their own way.
For me, I deal with it differently depending...........When my grandparents
passed it was painful yet a state of relief for their suffering was gone and they are now in a better place.............................When I lost my brother, it was a slap in the face and I was in a state of disbelief for some time. It was hard to comprehend that we had really lost him for we lost him so suddenly............Grief in any form is not easy, but some get busy and try to keep their minds occupied, some are in denial for some time, some get it all out right away and heal quickly. I think it just depends on the individual and how you handle it.
Me being one that don't handle it easily, but I try my best to just think of the good things.
Praying for you,
:hug:'s and :angel::kiss:es!!

I can relate....totally. My brother died two years ago. I was sad, I cried, missed him....and all that but I also finished college. To do that I had to write a big paper.

When I think back I can't understand how I was able to do that. The only thing I can think of is that it was some defense thing that kicked in. It was if I knew that if I take it slow and easy I will only think and dwell on why he chose the day before my birthday to end his life and all of the other questions that starts with why.
